“You know that big smile you wear after you just finish a good book? The one that seems to cement the mood for the rest of the day? Well, that’s what I felt after reading Family is Murder.”
–Christine Warner, International bestselling author
If only there was someone to clean up this mess…
Sean and Sara McKinley put out an ad for a maid, never expecting Sara’s birth mother to apply. Or at least that’s who the woman is claiming to be. While Sean is suspicious of the woman’s true identity and her motives, Sara opens her heart to the woman. But when a dead body turns up soon after Sara’s supposed mother takes off without so much as a goodbye, they both must question the truth.
Could they have welcomed a killer into their home without even knowing it?

Even though I hadn't read the other 4 books in the series, I in no way felt like I didn't know what was going on with Sean and Sara and their storyline. You can read this installment of the McKinley Mysteries series as a stand alone, but now that I've read it I want to read the books in the series too! This was a quick read, perfect for a busy person like me who generally doesn't have a lot of time. But, once I sat down and opened the first page I was drawn in to Carolyn's smooth writing, her interesting characters, and the nice pace of the story which included some well done twists and turns. Before I knew it I'd read the entire book. You know that big smile you wear after you just finish a good book? The one that seems to cement the mood for the rest of the day? Well, that's what I felt after reading Family is Murder. I can honestly tell you to grab a copy, you won't be disappointed. I received an arc in exchange for an honest review.
Another fun installment in this series! It was interesting to see Sara at her weakest, struggling with the issues of her adoption as a woman comes into her life claiming to be her birth mother. Sean was of course Sara's biggest supporter, but I enjoyed the moments where even their perfect marriage began to show some cracks. It made both characters feel more realistic as they struggle with doubts and hope over this new woman in their lives. Is she only after their money? Is she for real? Or is she something else entirely? I loved the ending as it was completely unexpected and yet made perfect sense! This is definitely another great read in this series and I'm looking forward to reading the next one.
