Four months have passed since Colby was given permission to exist as a half-blood vampire. Not only does she have her license, but she has been given the added responsibility of Protector of all the half-bloods. Colby takes this title in stride and sets about making preparations.

The Vampire Tribunal, the governing board for the vampire community, makes it possible for Colby and the other half-bloods to blend in with society while still being together to train and learn about the vampire ways by securing land on the campus of a local university in order to create a sorority. Colby names it Psi Phi (Sci-Fi, get it?).

With the help of her boyfriend/Vampire Investigator Thomas, Colby expects no problems when it comes to dealing with the other half-bloods. In fact, she expects them to consider her a hero for "saving" them from execution. Instead, she gets a mixed group of girls from extremely different backgrounds who don't think much about her as a Protector.

When one of her charges is murdered right in the sorority house, Colby begins to doubt her ability, as well. With the help of familiar faces from the previous book, Carl and Piper, she begins to unravel the mystery and learns of a spy that is in their midst.

One area of irritation is Colby's attitude toward Thomas. While BRACED2BITE, the first book in this series, was appropriate for middle school and above, FANGS4FREAKS gets a little closer to the edge. The sexual situations are increased and cause arguments between Colby and Thomas. Colby's tendency to blow up in anger over his actions seem a little over the top and happen too often and take too long to resolve. These arguments usually stem from the fact that Colby is very frustrated that Thomas won't take their physical relationship past the make-out stage.

Overall, even though the resolution to the story was rushed at the end, the story leading up to the conclusion was enjoyable. While not as good as the first, FANGS4FREAKS is definitely worth the time to read.

Fangs 4 Freaks was an amazing, and fun book. With Colby's wit, and a whole house full of teenage girl vampires who couldn't love it? I had fun reading this book and was sad to see the ending pages, but Dating 4 Demons is next and I can't wait!

Colby Blanchard¿s life is finally going great. The Psi Phi House is ready to go and the girls are moving in. She and Thomas are still going strong. She knows who she is and can handle the Tribunal on her own. That is, until one of the sorority girls is found dead inside the House. Suddenly, Colby¿s life is spinning out of control. With best friend Piper on the other side of the world and boyfriend Thomas emotionally distant, it¿s up to Colby to figure out who¿s behind the murder. The second in Robar¿s fabulous vampire series is definitely a hit. I laughed out loud numerous times and really understood what Colby was going through (okay, not the vampire part, or the murder part, or the . . . you get what I mean). It kept me guessing until the very last page and I am looking forward to the next book, due out in the spring of 2007. Reviewed by: Jessica Cave

Colby is a half vampire who has to use metal incisors made by her dentist-father to drink blood because her own teeth were harmed when she wore braces. Normally half-bloods are not allowed to live, but Colby persuaded the Vampire Tribunal that they deserved equal rights like full-bloods have and she will act as their Protector. At a PSU, sorority house run by Colby, half bloods taste freedom for the first time in their eternal lives.-------------- The teens under her watch are an interesting mix. For instance one is a Romany Princess another wants to go back to being a vegan in spite of needing blood to survive. Colby¿s full blooded boyfriend Thomas, a vampiric investigator is too overprotective. when trouble occurs, she does not turn to him for help even when full bloods try to make a meal out of her wards. Colby fights them off when she knows a mole is amidst them, Colby seeks to uncover the spy without alienating a doubting Thomas.-------------- Serena Rebar¿s vampire thrillers target teens, but adults will enjoy reading them too as they are simply fun tales. Colby is a fascinating protagonist who is cocky, loyal true to her beliefs, and yet can also prove vulnerable as she has concerns that she is not up to the task of being the protector of the half-bloods. FANGS 4 FREAKS is filled with action, romance, vampiric politics (that satirizes American sound bite issues) and teens what more can one ask from a toothy thriller.-------------- Harriet Klausner
