About the Author

Renée Pawlish is the award-winning author of the bestselling Nephilim Genesis of Evil, the first in the Nephilim trilogy, the Reed Ferguson mystery series (This Doesn't Happen In The Movies, Reel Estate Rip-off, The Maltese Felon, Farewell, My Deuce, and the short story Elvis And The Sports Card Cheat), The Noah Winters YA Adventure series (The Emerald Quest), This War We're In, a middle-grade World War II novel, Take Five, a short story collection, Codename Richard, a ghost story, and The Sallie House: Exposing the Beast Within, a nonfiction account of a haunted house investigation.

Renée has been called "a promising new voice to the comic murder/mystery genre" and "a powerful storyteller". Nephilim Genesis of Evil has been compared to Stephen King and Frank Peretti.

Renée was born in California, but has lived most of her life in Colorado. When she's not hiking, cycling, or chasing ballplayers for autographs, she is writing mysteries, thrillers and horror. She loves to travel and has visited numerous countries. She has also spent many summer days at her parents' cabin in the hills outside of Boulder, which was the inspiration for the setting of Taylor Crossing in her novel Nephilim: Genesis of Evil.

Will read this book and other books by this author because of other reviews stating it is free of sex and language. Appreciate that authors recognize that a story line doesn't require filth to be considered quality literature! THANK YOU!

I actually like the noir genre, but if your qualification for a good novel is lack of sex or adult language, then you should like this one This is certainly not authentic noir.  It lacks the gritty intensity that comes with authentic language and situations.  For that reason, it only gets three stars.  Read Dashell Hamlett or Raymond Chandler for a better experience.

I like the movie series The Thin Man, so I wanted to know how this book would find its way in. I was happily surprised that it was exciting. I needed to keep reading to find the "answer" to the story.

Interesting story with characters that you fall in love with...the sort-of-bumbling detective and his idiosyncratic friends. Kept my interest and was clean. This is the second Reed Ferguson book I've read and I enjoyed both very much.

I enjoyed reading "Deuce". Straight forward plot with no gratuitous filth/curse words. The main characters were likeable, believable and accessible without being especially sadistic. I appreciate that I can read this book without wondering if my mind will be polluted by nastiness or gross language. This would be a great basis for a TV series, if detective drama ever comes back into fashion. I'll be sure to purchase more of this author's books.

One of the goofball brothers has gone missing. Can Reed find him in time. I love this series. If you like a good light mystery this is the series to read.

Haven't read this one yet but have read two others,  which I thoroughly enjoyed, so know I will like this one also. Appreciate it that there is no sex and filthy language that so many authors think they need to put in their books.

I haven't read the book yet, but will get it just from the review that states there is no sex or filthy language in it. I appreciate that kind of a review.
