About the Author

I grew up in a small rural town in southeastern Oklahoma where our favorite entertainment on summer evenings was to sit outside under the stars and tell stories. When I went to bed at night, instead of a lullaby, I got a story. That could be due to the fact that everybody in my family has a singing voice like a bullfrog with laryngitis, but they sure could tell stories-ghost stories, funny stories, happy stories, scary stories.

For as long as I can remember I've been a storyteller. Thank goodness for computers so I can write down my stories. It's hard to make listeners sit still for the length of a book! Like my family's tales, my stories are funny, scary, dramatic, romantic, paranormal, magic.

Besides writing, my interests are reading, eating chocolate and riding my Harley.

I have two ongoing mystery series, Death by Chocolate (Death by Chocolate; Murder, Lies and Chocolate; and The Great Chocolate Scam, Chocolate Mousse Attack, and Fatal Chocolate Obsession) and Charley's Ghost (The Ex Who Wouldn't Die, The Ex Who Glowed in the Dark and The Ex Who Conned a Psychic).

I also sold fifteen romance novels ranging from comedy to dark suspense under the names Sally Carleen, Sally Steward and Sara Garrett. For those novels, I won several awards including National Readers' Choice, Romantic Times Best Silhouette Romance and two Rita finalist slots. Most of the Silhouettes are available as e-books, and I have e-pubbed six of the out-of-print single titles.

Contact information is available on my website. I love to talk to readers! And writers. And riders. And computer programmers. And teachers. And gardeners. And dogs. And puppets and poets and pirates and pawns and kings. Okay, I just plain love to talk!

I have read all the Chocolate and the Ex Who Glowed series. I just finished reading this latest in the Chocolate series. I have loved them all. After a stressful week its nice to relax with a light murder mystery and chocolate. And recipes at the end! What could be better?

This is the 5th in the series that I've read, 1st free and paid for the rest. No regrets!

I seldom write reviews but, when I do, it's because the book is not worth reading or because it's excellent. My favorite series have been the Myrtle Clover books by Elizabeth Spann Craig and the Gertie Johnson books by Deb Baker. These books rank right up there with those! Love, love, love the writer's style and wit as well as her characters. The main character reminds me of myself and things that I would think! A lot of laugh out loud moments. I would recommend these stories to anyone.

Develop the story more, it’s funny and enjoyable to read but a more fleshed out story and character development would result in an outstanding story that could go for more books .

First there’s one red rose, and someone dies. Then it’s a dozen roses and another one dies. The gifts keep coming and the body count rises as well. What’s going on? Is it Rick, Lindsey’s ex or as Fred suspects, does Lindsey have a stalker? Plus there is spousal abuse and Lindsey’s house becomes a shelter for an abused woman and her 3 young boys for a couple of days. Is it any wonder that King Henry is grumpy? As each book in the series is released, the characters become more developed and the stories more complex, making the reader eager to read the next one. And I can’t think of anyone who could resist the Chocolate Marshmallow Pudding recipe. I can only hope that book 6 is not far behind I’ve told all my friends about this delightful series.

Not one of the better books in the series.

I felt that this was the best in the series. More mystery content and less talk about Coke and chocolate. I was able to figure this out about half way through the book and that is the reason for four stars rather than five stars. Some nice recipes at the end. Looking forward to more in the series.

Best one yet! Yeah, I knew who the killer was early on, but who cares?!? I got to read more about Fred and the romance between Lindsey and Trent and the ending was AWESOME! I love this series so, so much. One of my favorite series! I can't wait for more.

I absolutely love all of Sally's books. They are so fun to read and make me happy. Plus, my family likes the chocolate things that I make from the recipes in the back of the book! I really wish I could hang out with Lindsay, Fred, and Paula! I feel like they are my friends.
