As Beatrice and Cal rush home so that she can give birth, a deadly enemy waits to destroy their happiness and end their lives. Cal is determined to save his wife and child, but he and his SFI employee/bodyguard, Trace Hunter, are outnumbered. I was on the edge of my seat as their ruthless enemy invaded. Cal calls for help and Connor and Sabrina rush to help their friends. This is such an intense story. I worried about B. She's a strong woman, but this enemy wants blood. Cal is willing to sacrifice himself for his family. Connor and Sabrina make a great addition to the team. Their attraction adds spice to this tense story. Misty Evans has written a series filled with powerful characters, non-stop action and the fight for justice. I'm a fan is Shadow Force International. I can't wait for more.

Fatal Love by Misty Evans is the fourth book in her Shadow Force International series. Finally B gives birth to Cal’s baby. It wouldn’t be a Shadow Force International book without the action and adventure. Throw in the birth of a baby and Fatal Love had it all. We also were treated to the partnering of Connor and Sabrina. Connor was forced to deal with his PTSD as he rushed to save the day. I’m not a fan of novellas because I like to read an in depth story. Ms. Evans surprised me with how much she was able to cover in this book. Not only did we see several firefights, we also were treated to a birth. Fatal Love was a fast paced novel and a quick read that I really enjoyed. I’d like to disclose that I voluntarily read and reviewed this book and this review is my true and honest opinion.

A fun little addition to the Shadow Force International series! For an novella, there’s an awful lot going on here–Cal and Beatrice’s baby is about to make his (or her) appearance, a team seeking revenge invades their home, and several other team members, among them Connor McKenzie and Sabrina Merinos, are going to have to rush in to help. Oh, and of course there’s also a side plot that has to do with the attraction that Connor and Sabrina have apparently been feeling for each other for some time now. So, yeah. A lot going on. The birthing a baby and fending off an attack bits are awesome–there’s even some humor worked in there!–but the Connor/Sabrina romance does take a back seat. (Which of course it has to–babies to birth! home invaders to fight!–but still, romance…) I wouldn’t have complained if this story had been a bit longer, with more Connor and Sabrina time to enjoy. Still, though, if you’ve read Cal and Beatrice’s book (Deadly Force, #3 in the Southern California Violent Crimes Taskforce series–and if you haven’t, why not?) you definitely won’t want to miss watching them greet their new bundle of joy. I mean, a Shadow Force International book is a Shadow Force International book, amirite? Though now I totally feel like a wimp for ever daring to complain about being asked to approve an emergency c-section while in the middle of a contraction while in a nice, normal hospital delivery room with actual doctors and nurses and no terrorists, bulletproof vests, or bombs in sight… Way to raise the bar unnaturally high, Queen B. Rating: 4 stars / A- I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

Fatal Love by Misty Evans may have written a novella but it had all of the action, love and humor that I have come to expect from the SFI world. Beatrice is about to have their baby and it couldn't be at worst time. They are attacked just as they get home. Cut off from their teams until two of their least likely SFI members come to the rescue. Connor and Sabrina were totally awesome and I so want to see more of them. In fact, I want to hang out with them at the office. I can hardly wait to see what Ms. Evans has planned for SFI next. Adrenaline rush from start to finish with some sexy sparks flying between Connor and Sabrina. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

Wow – Misty Evans has certainly made the arrival of Cal and Beatrice’s baby one to remember! With all the action, suspense, and heart of the rest of the SFI series, this novella has everything you would expect when it comes to birth of Cal & B’s baby! It's always special when your baby's birth happens and you and your new family are surrounded by people you love...and it’s even more special when those people you love can protect you from the crazy terrorist who has shown up in the middle of the delivery seeking revenge. Leave it to Cal and B to deliver a baby in the middle of a gunfight – I would have expected nothing less! And as usual B steals the show… One of the things I love best about this series is how Misty Evans weaves her characters in and out of the books. It is always a treat to catch up with characters who have been featured in other books as well as get to know some new ones. I loved meeting Connor and Sabrina, two SFI team members who find their way to one another during this novella. They each have an interesting background and I hope we get to learn more about them in upcoming books in the series – *dish, Misty – what’s up with the September 12 group that Connor keeps referring to?* This is a quick read with great writing that will pull you in and have you finishing it in one sitting. Even though this one is a bit heavier on the suspense/action side, the undercurrent of emotion between Cal and B and the beginning of the romance between Connor and Sabrina balance out all the gunfire and explosions. And the ending made me all warm and smiley inside. Although this can be read as a stand-alone, I would recommend starting this series from the beginning so you have a better understanding of the relationship between the characters.

Loved! This is a quick read that has Beatrice in labor and trying to deliver her baby while trying to get home (for a home birth) and while under attack. As a reader expects, the Shadow Force demonstrates their exceptional skills. Connor deals with a very real issue that he needed to overcome in order to help. Add in Sabrina, the spicy redhead, and you've got a wonderful collection of characters coming together with a common goal. Fans of the genre will love this book. While it is a stand alone novel, you will enjoy it so much more if you've read the prior books in the series. The author is on my must read authors' list and I highly recommend her to other readers.

Exhilrating novella from begginning to end. Lots of twists and turns and surprises. The author keeps you entertained and even caught myself nibbling on my na ils. Reccomend that you read the beginning of this deries to give you the background.
