Five years ago, Aegis Security op manager Marley Addison’s lover died in a South American raid gone horribly wrong…or so she thought. Then Jake shows up in Colombia to help her, leaving Marley annoyed…and more than a little distracted by her alarmingly handsome boss.

As things between Marley and Jake heat up in the wilderness, they discover their rescue mission is filled with treachery. Now the domineering Jake has to rely on Marley for survival. But can she depend on him when their mission takes a shocking and deadly turn?

Fatal Pursuit was my first book in the Aegis Series, but it wasn't my first from Elisabeth Naughton. Marley is a strong, independent woman, who left her job at her father's security company. Although she had been traveling around the world with him since she was little, and has more training and survival skills than most, her father wouldn't let her do field missions and tried to control every aspect of her life. Feeling coddled, she left and started to work for the Aegis group - her father's rival - but she couldn't predict Jake was worse. For three and a half years, she did her work at Aegis without setting foot on a field mission. When a mission is changed and she's the only one left out of the changes, she feels under appreciated and pissed off. That's when she receives a call from her supposedly long dead boyfriend and gets a wild hair. He's in Colombia and in need of a rescue, so she goes. Tired of being coddled and left out, Marley goes without telling Jake or her father. She just wants to prove them she's more than capable of handling herself in the field. Besides, it's just a grab and go mission, right? Jake is the owner of Aegis. He's controlling, alpha as they come and reckless as hell in missions. When he finds out that Marley took an unannounced 'vacation' after the day they changed the mission without telling her, he gets suspicious, thinking she's still mad about them keeping her in the dark. He does a little digging and doesn't like what he finds, so he get's on a plain and goes to Colombia after her. Join two people, which despite their attraction never had a relationship outside of work, in a jungle in Colombia. Add a more than capable woman that survives in the jungle like she's in the middle of the city and a pissed off boss who thinks she still needs coddling when in reality, she's the one helping him survive. Keep on adding natives and an aphrodisiac drink; Colombian guerrillas and paramilitary, and kaboom... Marley and Jake explode in Colombia, but when they come back, nothing is the same. Jake has a problem seeing what's in front of him and Marley's ex-lover intervention doesn't help, so to the recipe above keep adding drama, mistrust and suspense until the very end of the book.

I haven't read the other books of this series, but I can say for sure that is no problem as the third book can be read as a stand-alone. For sure, I will change this as this book really got me! I can't wait to read the other books of this series! The best word to describe this book? Roller coaster-journey! From the beginning to the middle to the end-every chapter was filled with suspension, great characters, love, steamy scenes and a story line that keeps you on the edge all the time! Moreover the story was touching. It was easy to actually really feel the characters...to understand why they do what they do. Combined with the awesome writing style Elizabeth Naughton used-this book is an easy 5 Star -read. What an amazing story!! I have been waiting for Jake and Marley's book since the first in this amazing series and I was not disappointed! The chemistry between these two was phenomenal and combustable and when they finally came together...WOW!!!! It is clear from the start that these two are fantastic together!! Marley is a strong, capable, and intelligent woman who wants to be seen as such. She's tired of being kept confined in the safe haven of the office while the rest of the team goes out on missions. When she sets off to help a friend on the other side of the world, she isn't expecting her boss, Jake to follow. Jake has a dark and painful past that has kept his walls high and his relationships short. When Marley takes off to parts unknown, he goes after her and begins to see her in a completely new light. He never realized how capable of handling herself she really was nor how beautiful she was doing it. I loved being able to see these two come together and I loved the banter between the two! Fatal Pursuit has everything from mystery to adventure to romance. It's perfectly balanced and once you start reading, you won't want to put it down!! I'm looking forward to the next book in this amazing series!

Rating: 4 1/2 Stars Marley Addison has a job that’s very frustrating. She’s not being seen as a woman who knows how to take care of herself. Jake Ryder is a law unto himself and think he knows what’s best for Marley. He gets the surprise of his life. Watching him come to realize just what type of woman Marley is is what grabbed my attention. Some bosses think they know what is best for their women employees but Marley takes one for the team and shows Jake that is certainly not true. This is one way that this story shows the reader how creative the author is. She takes us on an adventure that will have the reader wanting to pack their bags. You also will have no problem visualizing each scene as it unfolds. The reader is also introduced to someone very important to Marley and his name is Ronan. You will see him just enough to wonder what his story is. It also leaves you wondering if you will see him again. Jake needed a wake up call and Ronan is just the man to get him to open his eyes. To add more suspense into the mix, our author adds in an ex. Is he a good guy or a bad guy? Once you read the story, you will have your answer. For those that have to have a happy ending, you will find that here. As a romantic suspense, this hits the mark – it continues almost to the very end. As a series, this also hits the mark. You don’t need to read the other books, or novellas, in order to understand the characters but if you want to know more about the employees of Aegis Security then you will want to make sure to go back and read those that you may have missed. I certainly am looking forward to seeing what our author has in store for this group next.

Marley works for Jake and he's a hard man to deal with. Events in his past, some she knows and some she doesn't, formed him into the man he is today. He's a very frustrating chauvinistic and bossy man. All she's ever wanted to do was to be a field operative. She's qualified to do that but Jake, just like her father before him, keeps her in a cushy office, running field ops by remote. At the very moment she thought she'd had enough of Jake and his gender biased attitude, she received a call from an old boyfriend she thought was dead. He's in Columbia and needs her help to get out. So she left work, without notice, "borrowed" Jake's jet and flew to Columbia and that's where the story really gets going. Sure, Jake is domineering and a little sexist but it was fun watching Marley show him her skills. The night in the rain forest, while drinking the strange concoction with the natives, was smokin' hot! I truly feel bad for both of them. Marley, because he kept pulling her in, then pushing her away. And Jake because his obstacles to finding it in himself to love someone, were huge. His struggle was real and it was hard. The emotional range of this book goes from funny, to angry, to lustful and back and not necessarily in that order. I love the characters at Aegis and I can't wait to read more of their dangerous adventures. I was not compensated for my review. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinion expressed is my own.

A Great Book Contemporary Romantic Suspense Marley Addison is the op manager for Aegis Security and five years ago her lover died in a South American raid that went horribly wrong, at least that is what she thought. She receives a phone call telling her that he is actually alive and in danger. Marley vows to bring him home safely even if she has been kept out of the field for the last few years by Aegis CEO and former Navy SEAL Jake Ryder. Jake then shows up in Columbia to help, leaving Marley annoyed. It also makes her a little distracted by a boss that is alarmingly handsome. With things between Marley and Jake heating up in the wilderness they find that their rescue mission is filled with treachery. Jake is domineering but finds himself having to rely on Marley for survival. When their mission takes a shocking and deadly turn can Marley depend on Jake? This is part of a series that can be read as a standalone book. When readers read this one they will want to read the first books in the series as this proves to be an intense and amazing series. The action is almost nonstop and makes for a book that is very hard to put down as readers will want to know what is going to happen next. The suspense keeps going until the end and will have readers trying to guess just what is going on with all the different characters. It will also have readers wanting to read more from this series. 4.5 stars-- FATAL PURSUIT is the third installment in Elisabeth Naughton’s adult, contemporary Aegis Security action, suspense series focusing on a group of former CIA operatives and military personnel. This is Aegis Security CEO owner and former Navy SEAL Jake Ryder, and Aegis Security operations manager Marley Addison. FATAL PURSUIT can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from previous storylines is imparted where necessary. Told from dual third person perspectives (Jake and Marley) FATAL PURSUIT follows Marley as she attempts the rescue of her former lover Grayson McKnight- a man she believed had died in a military-style operation five years earlier. A frantic phone call from Gray saying he was in trouble finds Marley on a plane bound for Columbia –alone and wondering where everything went wrong. Working for Jake Ryder left Marley emotionally exhausted between Jake’s inability to see Marley for the woman she was, and the head games he played while on assignment. No longer able to suffer in the face of constant rejection and her apparent super power of invisibility as it pertained to Jake Ryder, Marley made the decision to rescue her former boyfriend-all on her own-proving to herself and anyone who cares that she is just as capable in the field as everyone else. But Jake wasn’t having anything to do with Marley’s one woman rescue operation, and finds himself in the middle of the Columbian jungle facing gun toting militants and frustrated local natives. Jake and Marley’s relationship is a friends to lovers to enemies to friends to lovers….well, you get the picture. Jake believes he is not worthy of any woman’s love; he doesn’t do relationships and he doesn’t want anything long term as his job takes him to dangerous locations for extended periods of time. Marley is a woman whose attraction to Jake is apparently one-sided, and in this Marley is no longer able to face the man with whom she is falling in love. The push and pull, back and forth, and angst of their relationship is a continuous loop of frustration, miscommunication and impassioned $ex. The attraction to one another is intense, undeniable and intoxicating but Jake’s inability to commit finds Marley on the outside one too many times. I felt the characters created too much drama in their personal lives thus rendering their relationship difficult and tense. Unfortunately for Jake, Marley makes a decision that will affect all of their lives leaving Jake lost without the woman he loves. Elisabeth Naughton will captivate your imagination with her style of writing, her characters and her addicting storylines. The Aegis series of romance, action and military style action pulls you onto the pages and behind the scenes of rescue operations and security nightmares. The premise is engaging, fast paced and dramatic; the characters are colorful, inspiring and spirited; the romance and sexual seduction a ping pong game for the mind.
