This book is a fun, interesting, and action-packed YA read, with just the right amount of fantasy and magic. The characters are well developed with backstories revealed later in the book. The end will leave you hanging, and the story continues even after the last page.
It's a little magic, it's fire fight, it's elemental powers at war. The book combines snippets of what appeals to today's young people - magical powers with an inquisitive love twist. For her first book, Ndidi brings a different dimension to modern fantasy novels. It's an adventure, a thriller, a mystery and coming of age romantic curiosity. Very impressed with her advanced writing skills as a teenager.
