February Stars (Wilder Irish Series #2) by Mari Carr

"No show, no contest, nothing. Nothing is more important to me than you."

Ailis Adams couldn't be more dissimilar from Hunter Maxwell. Quiet to his loud, calm to his frantic, bookish to his street smart...they have no common ground. Except for the fact that Ailis's boyfriend just ran away with Hunter's fiancée. So no one is more surprised than Ailis when a friendship flourishes. Pat's Pub's resident wallflower discovers she actually enjoys spending time with the bar's gregarious, attention-seeking musician.

When Hunter lands a spot in February Stars, his big shot at breaking into the music scene, who better to guide him than his new bestie? She's a sharp businesswoman who grew up on her famous parents' tour bus. Ailis isn't keen to leave her quiet life in Baltimore, but she knows the ins and outs of the biz, and even she grudgingly admits no one will have Hunter's back better than a friend.

However, with one impulsive kiss, everything changes. Ailis's friendly feelings toward Hunter turn to serious lust...and more. But falling for a musician isn't a good idea. Fame comes with a price, one Ailis isn't sure she's willing to pay. She's already left behind a life on the road once before, in favor of planting roots close to her family and their beloved pub. Though, her family will always be there...and four walls can't love her back...

So is home really a place? Or is it where her heart resides...with her gorgeous bad boy rock star?

A bad breakup leads to an unexpected friendship. Ailis's boyfriend and Hunter's fiance run away together, leaving behind a note. Ailis and Hunter console each other, and in the process become best friends. Ailis is lost. She lost herself in her relationship, then it failed. Now she doesn't know who she is. After years of devoting herself to his wants and needs, and burying herself, she has to now discover who she is and what she wants from life. Hunter also put aside a huge part of who he was while in his relationship. After the relationship ends, he decides to resurrect his music career. As Hunter's friend, Ailis sees an opportunity, and does her best to push him towards it. Spending time together leads to changes in their feelings, but Ailis is scared, and resistant. Hunter definitely has his work cut out for him! This was a fun story in the Wilder Irish series. I enjoyed the interactions between Hunter and Ailis, and their smoking hot connection! I loved the way they stuck together through everything, despite doubts, and criticisms, and outside influences. Friendship is an amazing basis for a relationship, and these two blew that out of the water!

**Received ARC for a fair and honest review** February Stars is the second book in the Wilder Irish series (second generation of the Wild Irish series). Ailis Adams (AKA Mouse) grew up the child of famous parents, constantly on a tour bus with her parents and her sister. Ailis is quiet, introspective, and invisible. When she goes to college she meets Paul, who she thinks she's in love with and settles in Baltimore because of him. When she comes home to a Dear John (or Dear Ailis) letter after six years of being with Paul she's floored. Hunter is outspoken, wild, flies by the seat of his pants. Hunter Morgan is engaged to Rhonda, Ailis best friend and has been best friends with Paul since they were kids. So when he comes home to his John Dear letter, he's enraged. Ailis and Hunter are opposites. But do opposites really attract? I really enjoyed this book tremendously. It was such a fun, fast, read that was very difficult to put down. If you like hot and steamy, don't worry this book will not disappoint. The characters are very enjoyable, just because Ailis doesn't want to be in the spotlight does not mean she is meek or passive. She's actually a very strong woman and I was pleasantly surprised. Hunter, though wild, is an alpha male, but not to extreme's. The chemistry really works between them well in the book. This book can be easily read as a standalone. The author does a great job of making sure you know who everyone is and where they fit. If you aren't new to this series, you will get to see some of the old characters which I really enjoy. Overall loved this book and can't wait for the next book in the series. Hope this helps! Happy Reading!!!

This is the second fabulous book in the Wilder Irish series and it features Ailis Adams, Teagan and Sky's daughter, and Hunter Maxwell. These two never took a second look at each other until it was almost too late. They were amazing best friends. As lovers they are even more fabulous but that's when all the doubts hit Ailis. I adore Hunter! When that man is sure of something, there's no changing his mind. He's got his work cut out for him with Ailis. I am interested to see if Rory Summit will make her way back into this series. Also, can I just say that I WANT A POP POP! He is awesome! I can't wait for the next book in this fantastic series.

Ailis Adams and Hunter Morgan have nothing in common, other than the fact that her boyfriend just ran away with his fiancée. They've only known each other through her boyfriend, but they would never be considered friends. At least until the night Hunter comes banging into her apartment looking to beat up her boyfriend. That night leads to an unlikely friendship between them. Ail is decides she needs a complete change to her life so she moves in the family "compound" and quits her job. Flash forward 10 months and Ailis and Hunter have managed to become best friends. Add in an unlikely run in at a nightclub and their friendship moves on to the next level. Hunter becomes a contestant in a singing contest called February Stars. That adds yet another level to their relationship. I love everything about this family, and this story continued with that.

After the Compass series I was hoping Mari Carr would be able to deliver the same Family strengths and character pull in this series. Sometimes the second set of a series is harder to do that but Mari delivers. As we get to know Ailis and Hunter's story we want to root for them but wonder how he will fit into the Collins clan but he proves that not only is he worth it but shows Ailis how she can do whatever she sets her mind to.

I'm so glad that author Mari Carr is writing stories for the next generation in her Wild Irish series. I really love the Collins family and she once again knocked this one out of the park. I love how she sets up each of these books and any scene with Pop Pop just warms my heart. I loved how Ailis and Hunter's relationship developed from friendship to love. These two both suffered a broken heart at the same time and I enjoyed watching them get over it together, being supportive of one another. This author sure knows how to write sexy and steamy just how I like. Another wonderful addition to the series and I cannot wait to read more.
