A 220 page free romance story of a firefighter rescuing a businessman, and her attempt to fight the attraction to him because of her experiencw with her parents difficulties in the firefighting world. A tale of comradery, drama, angst, jealousy, and joy. Some adult language and descriptive sex scenes. Also, an excerpt from the story about handsome, reckless Dylan.

Francy Cordaro rescued Alex Templeton when she was fighting a fire in his office building. When they actually meet later there is instant attraction between them. She doesn't want a relationship because when Francy was a child her mother left her family because she couldn't handle her husband's dangerous job as a firefighter. Francy loves her job and doesn't want to give it up but also doesn't want the man she loves to live in fear that she may get hurt. So no relationships for her. Francy and Alex agree to be friends. Let's see how that works for them. This book very clearly shows how dangerous it is to be a firefighter but also how hard it is on their families. It's quite an eye opener. When I saw this was about a female firefighter I wanted to read it right away. I liked the twist of a woman firefighter with the man being the worrier. All the characters were likable. I'd like to know more about the members on Francy's team. What a surprise when Francy's mother comes back. That's a story in itself. Please note I won Feel the Heat in a giveaway.

Francesca Cordaro, Firefighter, saves the life of Alex Templeton, a very handsome, a very rich man. Not only is he appreciative of her life-saving efforts, he can’t help put see the beautiful woman underneath the soot. He is immediately attracted to her, but she seems to be rather immune to his charms. That is something that Alex just doesn’t understand. Francey is attracted, but their lifestyles are so different. Her father, also a firefighter, married a rich woman who just couldn’t live with the man she loved, but placed himself in danger every day. She abandoned him and their three children. What Francey sees in her future is that Alex will do the same … be unable to cope with what she does. She doesn’t believe in Better to have loved and lost …. Alex is determined to keep her in his life … as a friend if nothing else until he can worm himself under her armor. But is Francey going to stick to her guns and not give in her to attraction? Their relationship seems doomed before it even begins. This is a romance that deals with love, lost love, relationships, differences, newly found love … all things romantic. You can’t help but like the characters. Francey loves her job, her family and friends, her dog, Alex is more of a loner, and he has had some differences with his family, but Francey makes everything better in his world. This is first in a series that features the Rockford Fire Department. Many thanks to the author and her assistant, Stacy Stephens who provided a digital copy in exchange for an honest, unbiased review.

Feel The Heat by Kathryn Shay grabbed me from the first page and held on till the last page. This well written book has a main story of Francey and Alex, but there's a smaller story in the background of Francey's parents and a side story of Alex's brother. Twist those stories all into one book and it keeps the pages turning. The characters in Feel The Heat are fantastic. There's plenty of action, drama and sizzle to keep you glued to the book. I loved reading Feel The Heat and look forward to reading more from Kathryn Shay in the future. Feel The Heat is book 1 of the Rockford Fire Department Series and can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger. This book is a fairly short read, a perfect choice for those with limited time for reading. I received a copy of this book from a third party for review purposes.

I am a big lover of fireman stories, and this was a wonderful story of a female firefighter. This book has it all, romance, true camaraderie of the firemen, true to life firefighting, plenty of family dynamics and a little bit of a mystery. Plus you get two romances in one story. Francey, female firefighter rescues Alex, rich, sexy white collar from a fire. She gets injured in the fire. After they meet up, their is an instant attraction between the two, but Francey is only willing to be friends. She doesn't want to make the same mistakes in life that her parents did. There is a lot of give and take, push and pull to make this relationship work. Great guest appearance from the Hidden Cove Fire Dept. Loved this book!! Great character development. Looking forward to reading the rest in the series.

Well written, this is a story I read a long time ago. Loved it then and truly adore it now with the updates. I had forgotten how much I loved this story until I read the latest version. If you love firefighting, this is the story for you.

I have read all of Ms. Shay's books in the Hidden Cove Firefighters series and loved them. So, I was happy to see she had this series as well. This is another well written story with very likable characters and more than one happy ending. It was refreshing to see a female firefighter as the heroine. I also enjoyed the cameos by the characters from the Hidden Cove series. I can't wait to read more about the Rockford Fire Department! Highly recommend. A copy was received from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Francey Cordaro saves Alex Templeton in a fire and in the process gets injured herself. Alex and Francey personally meet while both recovering in the hospital. It was quite a shock for Alex to realize his life saving firefighter is a very attractive woman. They both feel the instant attraction. Alex does his best to convince Francey into have a relationship with him. Francey fights her feelings for Alex as he comes from the world her mother lives in. She finally agrees to friendship and they become very close that way. I was very hooked by this book. I was felt I was right there at the edge of my seat in some parts. This book got intense. I'm glad that we got an in-depth look at our Hero's family/relationship life. It can't be easy knowing each day that your love one might come in harms way doing their job. This book is very well written and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Can't wait for book 2!

This book is another winner, proofing why I love Ms Shay’s books. The story is about Francey Cordaro, a firefighter who rescues Alex Templeton, a wealthy businessman, during a fire in his office building. The attraction is instant, but Francey is only willing to be friends. Her parents didn’t survive a similar situation of white collar and blue collar, and the stresses of being married to a firefighter. She fears they would be doomed. The plot is well handled , and the subplot of what started the fire Alex was in, is also interesting. But as always, there is a story with deeper meaning. We not only are made to ponder on the premise of “opposites attract”, but also on how individuals can handle the jobs our loved ones have. Can the partner handle the dangers of the dedication of a firefighter, or for that matter, anyone in law enforcement, military etc, without making the dedicated individual feels pressured and having to choose. Both individuals have to be strong and we as society, need to support our heros and their families. I am looking forward to more stories of the Rockford Fire Dept. If you have read other books by Ms Shay , some of the characters we loved in previous books, will make a cameo appearance.
