Laura Wippell is an Australian author and educator who lives beneath the majestic Andes Mountains in Chile. In 2022, Laura made her life-long dream of becoming a children's writer a reality when she won the 2022 Bee Ethicool author competition, where her story, Feeling Hopeful, received more than 5000 votes. 

Her debut title, Feeling Hopeful, will be released in 2023.

Stella Mongodi is an extraordinarily talented Italian illustrator currently living in the UK. She's best known for her incredibly detailed and life-like drawings. Feeling Hopeful is her fifteenth children's book.

Hope somersaulted across the blue sky.

His scales shone in the warm sunlight,

And the clouds happily bobbed after him.  


Far below Hope, the world seemed amiss.

Fear was everywhere, but it looked and felt different for everyone.  

Hope could not stand the grey, fearful world he saw beneath his rainbow snout.

He was hunting Fear.  


Hope glimpsed Heidi many miles below on her parents’ farm.

She was watching her thirsty animals search for water.   

Hope saw Fear hoist its huge body on top of Heidi’s head and bounce up and down.  

Heidi looked frightened.  


She tried going for a ride so Fear would fall off.  

Hope watched as Heidi galloped across the paddocks, the wind whistling in her ears.

But when she finally came to a stop, Fear was still there.
