Feminist Felines by Tasha Bock

Feminist Felines is a must-have book for equal-rights advocates, cat lovers, pun aficionados, the young and the old. Mischief and Tinker are the kitty protagonists of the “tail”. The story teaches the meaning and importance of feminism through the hijinks of two determined cats. The overall message? “Purrpetuate Pawsitivity” and support one another.

With a plethora of puns and wordplay, cute cats and an empowering message, this 34-page, full-color, hardback book with a “pawsitive” message and bright, hand-drawn illustrations has an enduring message that is extremely “purrtinent” today. Feminist Felines speaks to the crux of feminism: that women and men, boys and girls, are equal and should support one another.

A wonderfully written work, this book combines whimsical drawings and puns with an important message. It introduces feminism in an easily understandable, approachable way to youngsters while remaining relevant to adults as well. I would recommend to parents, teachers, and anyone looking for a great gift (for others or for yourself). I can't wait to see what Mischief and Tinker get into next!
