As a former Army Ranger who works for a high intelligence, private security company, I’ve seen my fair share of death, betrayal, and pain.
I’ve lived them.
I trust no one, only my brothers, and my best friend.
I wasn’t always like that. Everything changed the day my parents died and my nation was attacked.
Since then, family comes first. Work is my mistress.
Nothing else matters.
That is, until she walked into my life.
Short dress, long, tanned legs, and honey eyes that make me weak.
She’s sunshine and daffodils.
She’s a fighter.
She’s a dreamer.
She’s everything I hate.
Why is it so hard to walk away from her?

Fervent takes place after Flawed, but you don’t need to read one to understand the other. Fervent is Harrison’s story. He is the oldest Everhart brother. He was their legal guardian when they lost their parents. Harrison meets Luna through a coworker who wants him to look after his little sister. Luna is working undercover for the FBI. She lost her mother when she was a baby and wants to find out who killed her. Luna is a little spit fire bada**. I totally adored her and her quirkiness. She is adamant that she and Harrison can only be friends. Harrison was sweet and thoughtful and knew what he wanted pretty quickly. I enjoyed watching them develop their relationship. And I enjoyed seeing the rest of the Everharts and Beasley’s again. I can’t wait to get my hands on Hazels story.
I love the continuation of the Everheart boys because they all have such different personalities. It was so good to see how protective they were of Willow and Hazel in the first book, Flawed (All of You All of Me). I didn't expect this next book in the series to be about Harrison, but I was pleasantly surprised. Harrison was definitely the most buttoned-up and taciturn of the brothers. You definitely find out that he has one of the most pessimistic views on love out of all the brothers. Since Harrison was hurt pretty badly by his first love, he has deemed them all worthless except to get his needs fulfilled occasionally. When he meets Luna, he's actually met his match and she shows him things don't have to be the way he thought. There was some emotional times around the 9/11 attacks and how his parents died. It was the first time we get to see Harrison grieve their death. Since they called him right before they died, that was a lot to leave on his shoulders. He had to grow up way before his other brothers and be the responsible fill-in parent so young. I did expect Harrison to be a little more alpha considering his actions in Flawed, his job and previous stint as a SEAL. However, he does treat Luna with loving hands and their chemistry was very on. This installment also dealt with a very present problem with human trafficking, so we still dealt with a bit heavy subject matter, but the book wasn't heavy at all. Another good addition to the series.
The Everhart brothers have stolen my heart! I first fell for Hunter in Flawed and now Harrison has stolen my heart in Fervent. This family has undergone so much loss and pain and yet these men and their "sisters" make the perfect family, willing to see each other through anything. Harrison and Luna meet when one of Harrison's special ops friends asks Harrison to watch out for his sister while she is in town on business. Harrison agrees, but he has never wanted to mix business with pleasure so much in his life! Luna comes to town on an undercover assignment and is soon surrounded by the Everhart cocoon. She becomes part of the family and falls hard for Harrison. The writing of the story was good and I love these characters. I did feel a little like Luna's undercover job that brought her to NY, there wasn't closure for me on this job. I will continue to eagerly await the next book in the series!
What a delightful surprise this book was! I thought I was prepared, with my box of tissues handy, like I usually do before I start one of Ms. Burgoas books. Harrison and Luna's story was much lighter, but just as thrilling, heartwarming, and passionate. It was everything I want my romance stories to be. Luna is a real conundrum. She is smart, fearless and tough, but then she is also sweet, sunshine and superstitious. She is a sexy puzzle that draws Harrison in right from their first hilarious meeting. Lunas brother, Tiago, has asked Harrison to watch over Luna while she is in New York, making her off limits. It isn't hard since he has kept his distance from relationships after losing his parents in the Twin Towers tragedy. He is only close to his brothers and best friend, Hazel. Their tight knit group is supportive, hilarious, and essential. When Luna easily assimilates into the fold, Harrison is helpless against his growing feelings. Harrison is a huge surprise to Luna as well. He is charming, sweet, and attentive. He supports her decisions, and their chemistry is explosive. I love them together! There are reasons for her visit to New York that develop in surprising ways and along with a few twists and turns, this journey is exhilarating. It is fun catching up with the Everhart family along with the badass men in the security agency where Harrison works. This is such a fun, refreshing story that took me by surprise, when Ms Burgoa usually wrings every emotion out of us, along with several tissues. But it is a wonderful story in it's own rights. The storyline is intriguing with strong characters, little angst, enough mystery and drama to keep me turning the pages and the perfect amount of romance to make me swoon. The Everhart family and friends are amazing and endearing and I can't wait to read more about all of them!
