Miranda James has waved goodbye to her career as a litigation attorney in New York in order to pursue a living as an artist in the south of France. Sales are not going so well though, as she refuses to paint the typical and expected landscapes. Therefore, she is at first thrilled when Gabriel Murdock, a wealthy and darkly handsome financier, expresses his intent to buy the portrait that she's painted of a friend's daughter. Yet, something about his interest isn't quite right.

Gabriel is grim and imposing and frightening, and a disquieting air of menace surrounds him, but at certain times he also appears harmless, charming and even boyish. Miranda can't help but want to study him . . . closely. More than that, he makes her palms itch to touch him. When he invites her to paint his portrait, she follows him to his villa, and when he invites her to explore the desire that arcs between them, she willingly embraces the chance. Only soon, it becomes apparent that his motives are shadowed, and in painting a young girl's portrait, Miranda has inadvertently pitted herself against the hidden secrets of desperate men. The dark and twisting path she will have to follow in order to win Gabriel's heart and save a little girl and her family is filled with deadly menace.

Enter the world of a Modern Gothic Romance, a place where characters live passionately and fully. Life may be fraught with danger, but also with excitement and possibility. Heroes are strong, determined and cunning, and the heroines well-educated and stronger still. Come witness them meet, mingle and fall in love. Step into their world, and into their desire . . . .

About the Author

Judy Lynn Ichkhanian is living proof that all roads lead to New Jersey. Despite having lived in Marseille, France for six years, she now lives half a mile down the road from the house in which she was raised - even on the same side of the street.

An attorney by trade, a wife and mother by design, she has a B.A. in Art History from Mount Holyoke College, a Certificate of Interior Design from Parson's School of Design and a J.D. from St. John's School of Law. Despite the numerous years of schooling and careers in both boring and fascinating employments, her first love remains the same as it did in sixth grade when she penned her first novel about an enchanted plate and John and Abigail Adams - writing.

Judy loves floral design, painting, High Tea, snuggling with Chocolate-the-dog and creating stained glass. She hates cooking, cleaning and having to be social on New Year's Eve.
