Going the Distance II – YOLO

A full-length, stand-alone romance.

Distance. Chelsea Anderson uses it to flee a violent past and escape into the welcome anonymity of travel as she backpacks around the world. But when an explosion derails her train and strands her in the middle of nowhere, Chelsea, her travel buddy Madeline, and the fiercely sexy Alec McRae are forced to camp out in a tiny mountain village in the Alps. Fighting to escape the dark memories that surface, Chelsea finds herself sharing a very hot kiss with the brooding Alec--but flees back into the safety of distance.

If Alec McRae had invented the perfect girl, she would have looked like Chelsea, and the more time he spends with her, the more he wants her. A simmering sexual tension burns between them, but Alec, too, is using distance as a buffer to hide two secrets: the shame of a life spent in brutal poverty, and guilt that someone in his life made a supreme sacrifice to give him a fresh start.

When the group escapes the Alps, Chelsea and Alec share a magical week in Venice, where the lovers are confronted with everything they've tried to leave behind. Will they take a stand and embrace their love or let distance destroy everything?

This was a very well-written, interesting, entertaining book. Chelsea has traveling to escape from her past. Alec has been traveling to escape the poverty of his past. An explosion derails the train they're on and strands them in a small town in the Alps. They're attracted to each other, but fighting it, too. Their journey was fascinating to read and I couldn't put this book down. It can be read as a stand alone, though it is the second book in a spin-off series with related characters from the Going the Distance series. I enjoyed this book and am looking forward to the next one! I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Here's another spin-off novel from the Going the Distance series (with some cameos from Tyler, Jess, & Kaleb.) This story literally begins with a "bang" in Austria and ends in Venice. It features some of the backpackers introduced in "Extreme" and focuses on the budding relationship between Chelsea Anderson and Alec McRae. The characters are complex and working toward healing broken aspects of their emotional/past life which seemed at odds with the very steamy sex scenes described by the author. Thanks to the Inner Circle for the copy of this book.
