Because it's all about the #MeetCute.
Vivian is sick of dating. Sick of the way guys treat her, sick of living and crying by when and if they call . . . she's just done.
When her aunt reminds her that a girl has to kiss a lot of frogs before she finds her prince--Aunt Gail says that number is fifty--Vivian decides she's taking control of her dating life: she's going to go on a series of first dates only, and each one must end in a kiss. She begins chronicling each date--the good, the bad and the downright unbelievable--with a plan to turn the stories into an in-depth magazine series about the realities of dating in the twenty-first century.
Everything's going along according to plan until Vivian hits a bump in her road with Frog Number Five, who doesn't seem to understand his role in this deal. And despite Vivian's determination to make it all the way to the big five-oh, when fate keeps throwing this same man across her path, she begins to wonder if maybe it's time to ditch the plan . . . and kiss just one more frog.

What a delightful story! While there could have been fewer lessons on saving the ecology of the world, Vivian and Charlie are wonderful characters. I smiled numerous times while reading. So many of the characters have unexpected quirks, there was no shortage of funny surprises. Aunt Gail was a favorite too. A well-written, sweet story of dating in the twenty-first century I recommend this book. I received a free copy of this book and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
I am now completely terrified of the modern dating scene. I loved Vivian - strong, independent, and slightly neurotic, just like the rest of us, with all the usual baggage that accompanies having family and friends. I am possibly the most horrified to learn that her dating disasters are all based on real-life encounters. Charlie is such a sweetheart. You can tell right away that he’s going to be something different, someone important to Vivian. As much fun as I had watching her bad first dates, I would have loved seeing more of Charlie and Vivian together, watching them fall.
When asked if I would be interested in reading FIFTY FROGS, I knew I had to. I loved the idea that this book was about and knew it had to be good. And when I was reading, I couldn't help but laugh (numerous times) at all the crazies Vivian met while trying to write an article on the joys (or lack thereof) of dating frogs while in search of her prince. She is such a fun, quirky character and you really get a feel for her quirkiness at the very start of the book. She will definitely have you smiling all throughout the book. And Charlie, I just love him. I love how both he and Vivian find they are both in very similar situations; living arrangements, employment, and dating life. It was such a joy to watch them fall for one another in the midst of everything. So, so cute!! I really had a hard time putting this book down. I would constantly wonder what crazy scenario and/or crazy guy Vivian would find next. I looked forward to it and the silliness that would surely ensue. Fun plot, hilarious dating hijinks, and one adorable meet cute… FIFTY FROGS was such a good read. If you are looking for your next beach read or late night read, I think you may have just found it. 4 Stars!
What a way to start the #MeetCute series. This one is #TeamSwoon all the way. I can't say enough about how much I love Vivian and Charlie. The first scene sets the hilarious tone for the book and you have to give Vivian props for sticking to her guns!! The fact that she loses her job, her boyfriend, and other unexpected changes in one fell swoop says it all. And any man who comes to the aid to rescue a turtle in the middle of the road - sigh!! The premise is that Vivian is unlucky in love (see the lost her boyfriend part - not a fan of his!) and her aunt suggests that she needs to kiss fifty frogs (well the number isn't important) before she can find her prince. What Vivian doesn't realize is that she really found him before she started kissing any frogs - and let's be honest - most of them were toads!! So many favorite parts of the book - discussion of DC vs. Marvel - very important topic to discuss; "tit for tat" - oh I enjoyed that scene and here's a swoony moment..."It could be that neither of us are perfect, but together we could be pretty...amazing." Oh my - how could you not fall head over heels. Of course - there will be a bump in the road as Vivian should have come clean about a few things, but overall - this book has so much heart and nice heat. It gives you all the feels and reminds you what it was like when you fell in love with "the one". Tawdra Kandle is one of my favorite authors - if you haven't met her yet - this is a good book to start.
