If you are looking for a quilting book full of quilts, this is not the one you should get. If you are looking for quilts plus pillows, sachets, aprons, tablecloths, pin cushions and small decorations to sew, then FRESH VINTAGE SEWING is for you. The first section, like all good quilt books, gives an overview of basic things such as color and fabric selection, cutting and piecing methods and appliqué tips. Interspersed in this section are extra tips which are set off in tan colored boxes. Each project provides a photo, a paragraph about the subject and a materials and cutting list. Finished size measurements are also given. The instructions on how to put the project together come with plenty of graphics so you can see as well as read what you are to do. Assembling directions are next and finally the finishing. This last is left up to you with the statement of "quilt as desired". If templates are needed, as for the appliqués, they are provided at full size. You don't have to run out to the copier's before you start which is a nice touch. If you are looking to start your Christmas presents for 2010 early, this would be a good book to get as the variety of projects is so varied.
