My rating: 3 of 5 ¿¿ Ten years ago Shelby though she was making the right decision in setting free the man she loved so he could pursue his dreams. Slight miscalculation on her part was that she never bothered asking him what he wanted. Over the years she had much cause to regret that decision, and even after all this time had not been able to completely let go. Of course, just as Shelby is getting ready to take that first step, who else but the source of her years of pining would make a sudden appearance in her life. But now in the form of subject matter for an article she has just been assigned to write on the MMA Heavyweight Champion, "The Destroyer". Years of hard work and dedicated training have paid of for Matt Reynolds, and now that he has reigned in his 'wilder' side, he hopes he can settle into a steadier groove after winning the championship. He had come from very little, but had managed to make something of himself, it was time to treasure that. When his manager suggested an article for a renowned fitness publication would help boost his image, Matt didn't hesitate a moment. That is, until he was introduced to the writer of said article..... a woman he had tried hard to forget for years, the same woman who he had never been able to completely remove from his heart. To say their unexpected reunion was a surprise is an understatement. Both Matt and Shelby are shaken by the encounter, and although Shelby runs, this time Matt is not going to let her get away easily. Even though it's been years, he still wants some answers and if possible a look to see if there is anything left between them. When cornered, Shelby tries to explain her reasons for leaving back then, although she still doesn't share everything with him. A decision she may come to regret. When a long-time nemesis gets a lead on some damaging information, he does not hesitate to try and use it to drive a wedge between Matt and Shelby and threatens to break apart what has only just been rediscovered.... **** The story is not unfamiliar...... rejected years ago only to find each other again with an opportunity to clear up any remaining misunderstandings, leaving out one crucial detail that threatens to end the blissful reunion yet a second time around! This particular version made a bit more interesting with the addition of a competitive nemesis of our hero, who is known to stoop low to shake up his opponents. Low enough to dig up dirt as old as ten years down memory lane.... Shelby thought she did good by letting Matt go to pursue his dream, and for the life of me, I have never met an 18-year old who has not thought of herself long enough to come to that conclusion...... Call me a cynic.... OR..... call me a mother of four (now adult) children, feet solidly planted on terra firma, knowing that unless the girl is a veritable saint, there isn't an 18-year old female in love, in her particular situation, who could bring herself to be that self-sacrificing. If she had had any hardships in her life before that....... any hard knocks to overcome....any indication at all that she had needed to grow up at a young age due to trauma of some sort, I might have bought into the extreme maturity at a naturally selfish age. As it is......nah. Matt's reaction back then is far more character and age appropriate: Pissed off, heated, proud, all of those things and more. Flipping the bird at her and the rest of the world, by working  his ass off to get to where he wanted to go and living it up as if he isn't hurting every step of the way. Now that makes much more sense to me. But then, Matt baffles me as well! He takes one look at her after ten years and basically decides that whatever it was is forgiven, and hey.....let's try this again. For a guy who says 'he has though about her at times over the years', he sure says "I never stopped loving you" awful quick!! Needless to say, I have a bit of an issue with the credibility of the crux of the story, BUT that is not to say I don't like it..... because I do. I actually enjoyed reading this book. In part it was the MMA scene, which is always interesting, and also the interaction between Shelby and Matt. Despite the way they came together, their effect on each other is very tangible. And I don't just mean the scalding chemistry. They have an actual connection that can be sensed in the way Shelby can hold back the instinctive violence in Matt that wants to come out, and Matt is able to ground Shelby with a simple touch or word.  That right there, is the result of a piece of fine intuitive writing on the part of L.P. Dover. She must have had a strong sense of who she needed her characters to be, to be able to tie them together so well. Not only that, but she was able to translate that into words and onto the reader. Well done! ¿A charged and steamy fight for a seductive second chance!¿ **Copy provided in return for an honest review.**

When I started this book I was a little disappointed. I was excited that Matt got his own story because I enjoyed meeting him in Meant For Me, but it kinda felt like Dover had just taken the first book in this series and put a new spin on it. Old lovers meeting again after many years and rekindling their love. There were just too many similarities between the two books in the beginning, but as the story continued and the more I got sucked into Matt and Shelby's lives, the more I connected with them and started to enjoy this story. There were times when I felt certain aspects of the story were forced and I wish there had been a bit more sexual tension between the characters before they fell back into their comfort zone with each other. Having said that, when they were together the chemistry was undeniable and they were one hot couple.  This book was filled with many ups and downs, but it was only really toward the latter part of the story when I truly turned into an emotional wreck. When Shelby confessed everything to Matt it broke my heart, and I had a hard time reading the rest of this book through all my tears. When Matt went to visit Madelyn it was such a beautiful, touching moment and I had to put the book down, sit back and take a breath before continuing. That final roadblock for Matt and Shelby turned this entire story around for me, making this a stunning, emotional read.

I am very happy that MMA romances are 1) popular and 2) getting better and better. This book was awesome! Matt and Shelby had young love as high school sweethearts when an unexpected situation breaks them apart. 10 years have passed and now they are reunited, though it is not happily. Matt is still broken hearted, and Shelby is still keeping secrets. Though now, Matt is the bad boy of MMA and Shelby has been assigned to write a feature about him for a magazine. Will they finally come to terms with what tore them apart and give each other a chance to heal, or do the wounds run too deep for both of them? I love MMA fighter characters. They are so badass. And hot…let’s not forget hot. And Matt is definitely hot. He’s a playboy, but he’s not a bad guy, he’s just has a hole left in his heart from Shelby and has tried to fill it with fighting and women. Can you blame the guy? Shelby is a great character too. She thought all those years ago that she was making the best decision for people that she cared about, but all it ended up doing was tearing both Shelby and Matt apart in the end. Their love story is one of those kinds where you know it’s just meant to be, they belong together. I loved the tension and build up between them, and the feelings that never really died for either of them. It was a sweet story about second chances, and who doesn’t cheer for two good people to have a second chance with one another? As far as writing and general plot, it was good. I was able to figure out the twist before it happened, but that didn’t detract from my enjoyment of the book at all. It’s a really emotional story that I got totally wrapped up in. I haven’t read any of the other standalone books in this series, but I definitely am now. 4 stars! Reviewed by Sara for Crystal’s Many Reviewers *Copy provided for honest review*

I have read all the books in this series and have loved them. When I think she can't get any better she goes and writes another book that tops the last one. Loved it.

I loved it, it really pulled me in. There were so many emotions there. This story is about Matt and Shelby, they are an amazing characters, so real. He is an MMA fighter and she is a writer who has to write a story about him. They were high school sweethearts, but she broke it off. They meet after 10 years again, both still very much attracted to each other. This story is a must read!

This book was gifted to me by the author for an honest review. I gave this book 5 stars. This is Matt and Shelby's story. Matt Reynolds, as mentioned in book number three, is defending his Heavy-Weight Championship title for the fourth time in a row. Mat''s worked his whole life for this title, and he isn't about to give it up easily. After the girl he once was deeply in love with for ten years ago walks into his life unexpectedly, his past comes crashing onto him; the pain of Shelby leaving him with no explanation, and some secrets that she's held onto for the past ten years. Shelby, who has just now decided to try to move on from the "bad boy" Matt, gets a lovely surprise when she runs into Matt while working a job. In hopes of repairing their long lost relationship, Shelby needs to fess up about some deep, dark secrets that could ruin her second chance with Matt once and for all. But will she be able to confide in Matt before someone comes in and tells Matt themselves in attempts the ruin their relationship? I was captivated by this book, and I read it all in a non-stop period of 6 hours. This book will keep you on the edge of your seats, indulge you in laughter, and have you in a tantrum of frustration. This is a must read! Right along with all of the books before this one. I truly cannot wait until book number 5!

We all have that one author (or a few) that we sit on the edge of our seats just waiting for their next release! Well LP Dover is one of those many authors for me. I love everything she writes. I know the moment I hear the titles of her books or see the book covers (which are always beautiful, props to her designer Regina Wamba of Mae …) that the stories in each and every one of her books is going to be amazing. I can’t even tell you if I have a favorite of hers because they all have left something behind within me. That is exactly what Fighting For Love has done as well. The book starts off with Shelby semi explaining that and incident/event that took place in her life has left her shattered and apart from someone she still ten years later loves deeply. No serious details are given away, but just enough to know that there is former lover that is involved, secrets that have been kept, hearts that have been broken (and may still be broken), and a dark whole left within Shelby’s heart for the decision she decided to make and the loss that followed afterwards. That right there is deep and pulls you right into the rest of the story. That right there makes you not want to put the book down for not even a millisecond. That right there is the perfect start to a great story. So much goes on within the pages of this book. There are so many emotions…the emotions are raw and so relatable. Whether you have been through something similar or know someone who has you can feel the pain. I literally felt my heart clench as if it were my heart breaking and not that of the characters. That is the type of writing from an author that sticks with the readers forever. I won’t tell you if the book ends with an HEA or more heartbreak because I feel that any indication of how it ends will give too much away. Just know that you will love this book. You will finish saying no matter what you should always fight for want you want, what you deserve and fight hard so that in the end no matter which way it goes you can say you gave it everything you had; no regrets. The characters of Shelby and Matt are very real to me. This is the second book that LP Dover has written that has MMA fighters in it and I must say the woman does it well. I am very intrigued with the world and would love to get my hands on a handsome, sensitive, lovable, strong, determined man like Matt Reynolds. Gracious does she know how to write some kick butt leading men aka my new book boyfriend. She also does a great job writing strong, independent female leads as well and nowadays that is a necessity. I’m so glad that LP Dover decided to give Matt Reynolds his own story. We first met him in Meant for Me and we all fell in love with Matt and of course wanted more and she heard our screams and shouts.

I Received An ARC Of This Book In Exchange For My Honest Review!!! Oh my god this book is franfreakentastic!!! The characters were awesome and so well written that they came alive on the pages as you were reading along. Not to mention it felt like coming home for me since we met some of the characters previously in Meant For Me. I loved meeting the new characters but was so very happy to see some of the old characters return. I'm loving the whole MMA fighting thing that L.P. has going on in her books right now. With Matt and Shelby we are once again returning to the world of MMA fighting and things haven't changed. Do you remember Kyle from Meant For Me? Well he's back and he hasn't changed. This time he has his sets on causing problems for Matt. Matt and Shelby's story is one of secrets, suspense, betrayal, romance, and tears. From the moment I started this book I was captivated by it and couldn't put it down. It's been 10 years since Shelby left Matt and he's never got over it. Now she's back in his life to do an article on him and he doesn't plan on letting her get away again because the one thing he does know is that he never stopped loving her. Matt is pure sexy alpha male. He's the type of man who has a hard time not doing something when the ones he loves are being threatened. I will admit that I do love Matt "The Destroyer" Reynolds! He can be aggressive and rough at times but there are other times when he's sensitive, tender, and romantic. Not to mention that man has a way with words that makes me melt. Shelby has never stopped loving Matt and when she left him 10 years ago she was doing it for the right reasons in her mind. Now that he's back in her life she realizes that he's who she wants to be with and always has. She doesn't plan on letting him go now that she has him back. The only problem is her secret. She knows that she has to tell him but she's scared and I completely see why. Not to mention they have to deal with Kyle interfering in their relationship. This is their second chance to get things right and probably their last. Follow Matt and Shelby on their journey and see if love is enough to get you through anything. This book will keep you on your toes and have you guessing and wondering who is it? I do recommend having tissues ready because there's a part that I balled my eyes out over. You will know it when you get to it. Sorry I don't want to give away any spoilers. An absolutely wonderful book that I would recommend to all book lovers. L.P. Dover you continue to amaze me with every new book you release. I have been a fan of yours since I read the Fae Series and will be a fan for life.
