This book is about how a man and a woman overcome there terrible pasts in order to find real happiness. Layla's life ended when she was 16. She went to a party, got drunk, and got pregnant. Perhaps the saddest part about that is that she doesn't remember how she ended up in bed with her now husband. She came from an old fashioned family who insisted that rather than being a disgrace to them as a single mom, she would marry the father of her child. He was still in high school as well, but after his parents convinced him to do the right thing, they were married. Sixteen years later, Layla has left her husband with their daughter and is trying to start a new life for them. She bares emotional and physical scars that she is trying to hide from the world, but Blake just won't let her be. It goes against all of his rules to be attracted to or even attempt to sleep with a mother. However he cannot deny this strange attraction he has towards Layla. She brings out the worst and best in him (as far as he is concerned). She forces him to remember how terrible his father treated his mother as well as the emotional abuse that led him into the fighting ring. As a mixed martial artist, he fights to forget and overcome the abuse he went through as a child, but the more he learns about Layla, the more he has to face the past in order to have a future. I loved this book. I literally read it in 24 hours because I just had to know exactly what had happened to Layla and how Blake would react. Some people can write stories about traumatic events and make them feel believable. Then there are people who can take those believable events and make you think that it really truly happened. It's like reading a diary of two people with the exact dialog included. The characters are more than characters, they become real people to you. It was wonderfully written. I will say, it does include information not meant for the younger crowd. The situations describe really do happen to some people and you may not want your teenager reading about them. On the other hand, you might want them to so they can be educated to try to avoid being put in these situations later in their life. Up to you.

I have found a new love for MMA fighter books. I fell hard for Blake “The Snake” Daniel in Fighting for Flight with his witty banter. The bad boy with a good heart totally had me from his first act of kindness to his last. To describe Blake and Layla’s first introduction as love at first sight would not be correct but lust? Now you are on the right track. From the first introduction I was giggling like a school girl. “Layla Moorehead.” “…That’s the best name for a chick I’ve ever heard.” Blake had me in stitches with his clever comebacks and that Layla dished it right back was a tennis match I loved to watch. Layla switched the game for Blake. He lived by a set of rules but she came into his life and made him break each and every one of them without lifting a finger. This book is based on forgiveness. Forgiveness is something I have learned is what you give yourself not to others. Blake and Layla have issues in their pasts that have brought them to a place of forgiveness. Choosing to forgive is the bravest and most courageous thing they can do if they choose it for themselves. Blake’s being a MMA fighter allows him to physically fight but the internal demons he fights leave him alone. Layla comes across as a shell of a woman with no fight left in her but she will sacrifice everything for the ones she loves. “…everyone needs someone fighting in their corner…” The love scenes were HOT! I am used to being able to anticipate what comes next when it comes to love scenes. These are descriptive but not trashy, intimate without mushy and kept me on my toes. I devoured the words like eating the most delicious dessert on the menu. Um, waiter I’ll take one of everything...to go! ...Check please! The storyline of a fighter and woman under duress is not a new one but the conflict and her “issue” is new to me. I didn’t anticipate it nor was it even on my radar. I was feeling anxious as I read each scene as they hinted to the “issue” but was completely blindsided once it was revealed. I was scared for her and for how Blake would react. His alpha male, dominant, protective nature could have taken over and made a bad situation even worse to the point that neither of them would have come out on the other side of it unharmed. To say I loved J. B. Salsbury’s series is an understatement. I'm obsessed! She has a gift for the written word and knows how to make a female empowered without being powerful. Power can be measured not only by physical strength but by love and tenderness as well. Her male characters show what real power they possesses…the power to love.

5 star The story has laughs, betrayal, secrets, and heartbreak. I was pulled right into this story. I recommend reading the below before this story Fighting for Flight (Fighting, #1) This is Layla and Blake’s story. Layla and Blake are broken in their own ways from the past. Blake thinks Layla is at the gym for a different reason then she is which leads to confusion and anger. Blake likes his woman with no baggage but Layla has a ton of baggage. With Blake having wicked thoughts of Layla all the time and Layla trying not depend on herself things seems to be crazy every time they are together. With Layla’s ex showing up just when everything is going go to ruin everything they both wonder if they ever had anything together. If they did can they get it back? I loved these characters and also the side characters. I felt I was able to connect with the characters and the story was a great read. I highly recommend this book and can’t wait for the next story in this series.

This series is absolutely my favorite series ever written! Intense on so many levels it is unimaginable! JB Salsbury writes books that GO THERE! The topics that JB tackles are so heavy and life destroying, yet she also shows how love and commitment can give you the strength to over come! Fighting To Forgive is Blake (I LOVE BLAKE) and Layla's story! The rollercoaster that these characters ride will put you on such an emotiional ride that you'll want to read it again just for the sheer thrill of it!

I loved this book completely. The storyline was very dark at times but the light was not far behind. The chemistry between Rex and Gia is off the charts hot! Their's is a very sad heartbreaking story but they eventually find eachother again and start to regain a life without darkness. At times I cried so hard my heart ached. I highly recommend this book to everyone. It's 305 pages and worth the read.
