This book was heartbreakingly beautiful. It was very difficult to read at times. Not due to the writing but because of the subject matter. It was difficult to read what Ali went through fighting her demons and the absolute misery of dealing with bulimia. This book also highlights some effects of cyber bullying and how some people hide behind their computer screens and suddenly become so “brave” and critical of other human beings! You never know what battles a person is fighting so don’t assume that just because it seems like someone has it together or is successful in some part of their life that they aren’t struggling. We are so quick to judge others yet when we reflect on ourselves we see that we all have some flaws and that’s what makes us human. Ali found help and an ally in the most unexpected person. She’s had her brother by her side for all her life and he’s her number one supporter. But Slater comes into her life at just the right time when she need a different kind of support. I highly recommend this book. Just be ready to shed some tears and want to yell at your book for the way Ali is treated. Maybe it will change what you think about people and understand they may be fighting their own demons, I know it did for me! Reviewed by: Alexis B.
