Nartan, the billionaire goes after the woman jaded by a previous bad relationship. This is a sexy read that I enjoyed. I am admit the beginning was a bit slow but the heat definitely turned up when they arrived back in California. I was entertained by the story and the chemistry between Nartan and Celeste is hot. An all-around good read.

What a story!  Ryder alternates between shockingly provocative narratives and emotionally gripping scenes.  She had me wrapped up in this world that she has created.   I could just as easily picture the time in Alaska as I could the time in SoCal.  The novel was vividly real with a feeling of impending heartbreak throughout.  I found myself waiting for the other shoe to fall and praying that it didn’t.  Ryder pens erotic interludes that bring the story to life, cementing the connection between the main characters.  Not only are these scenes unforgettably hot, they also add to the story.   This entire novel is a battle of wills.  This embodies not only the relationship between the main characters, or with others from their pasts, but also the battle within themselves.  Seeing the main characters place what they think they should have or do against what they truly want was a brilliant contrast.  It made them very real and approachable. The cast in this novel wasn’t huge, but those that we do meet really pack a punch.  You also don’t like or approve of everyone that you meet in this story.  Some draw your loyalties, and others, well…  Let’s just say I agree with Nartan’s theories on those others. As a whole this was a shocking and emotional novel that held my attention throughout.  It was my first novel by this author but definitely won’t be my last. Please note that I received a complimentary copy of this work in exchange for an honest review.

It took me a some time to warm up to this book. Nartan Lupan was a bit creepy and stalker-ish and Celeste was just to dang idiotic. I would have liked for the characters to have a little more interaction with secondary characters for the story to feel more real to me. I liked that the author put different POVs in the story but would have liked to have them a little earlier in the story, not in the last third of the book only. That way it would have had more meaning. I also started to get into the story about a quarter in. Nartan and Celeste's romance started to flourish and Celeste started to let down her walls down more and more as she noticed that Nartan was not like her ex-husband. He did not want to control her, just wanted to keep her safe. There are many a woman mistreated, but just a few of them let go of the fear they hold and see that there are good men out there and there are a lot of people who want to help them. I would like a story about Laura and Marcus, either together or each one having a book of their own. But what I;m really looking forward to is reading Tarak and Sabra's story Out of Bounds.

I liked Filthy Rich by Dawn Ryder, however I found the pace of the first half to be extremely slow. The rest of the book was sexy, suspenseful and interesting. The author does an amazing job of describing the Alaskan wilderness, so much so that I may decide to take an Alaskan cruise some day and do my own exploring. The main characters, uber successful entrepreneur Nartan Lupan, and attorney Celeste Connor, are perfect for each other in every way. However due to Celeste's past, it takes her a while to come to that conclusion. Nartan is a true alpha male, and his actions, mannerisms and seduction techniques are extremely hot. He knows what he wants and goes after it until it is captured, and in this case Celeste is the hunted. Celeste is totally turned on by Nartan and enjoys his possessive methods, yet her guard is always up in order to keep her heart and body from being torn to pieces. Overall, I enjoyed this book. The characters are well described and I liked the cultural aspects of the plot. Complimentary copy provided by the publisher via NetGalley.

Filthy Rich, Dawn Ryder Review from Jeannie Zelos book reviews Genre: Erotica I enjoyed the first book, Out of Bounds, and we meet Sabra and Tarak again briefly in this book. Nartan and Celeste are friends of the couple and meet at their wedding. Nartan is used to control in his flirtations, he’s always the one directing and the one who says when it ends but with Celeste she makes it clear he’s not even in her sightline. Her body says differently though and he’s such a confident man he won’t take no for an answer, in fact I suspect he’s the sort that rarely gets a “No”. soon they are in the throes of a passionate affair. Celeste lost her sense of self with the idiot she married, another rich entitled guy like Nartan on the surface, and she’s vowed never to get like that again. Nartan admires her strength though whereas her ex hated it, he wanted someone totally dependent on him. Now he’s out of prison and not happy with the direction her life has taken. It’s a book that has all the elements I love, drama, not sex, sensuality and passion and an element of suspense but...it didn’t get past a three star good for me. Somehow I felt everything seemed very “on the surface” – I wasn’t convinced that Celeste was ready to accept Nartan, nor that he was ready to change his ways for her. I did not like the condom issue....given his rep I’d have thought Celeste would have been more careful! I didn’t really feel I got to know either of them well, and I guess that’s why I couldn’t really get deeply into the story. It was good just not great. The danger could have been perfect for adding the drama I loved but again I wasn’t really convinced by it. I didn’t get the feeling Celeste's life was in danger even though there were some pretty serious actions going on.   Stars: Three, a good read just not for me a great read.
