This account details the 1st Marine Division's battles during the final seven months of the Korean War in 1953, and presents b&w photos of members of the division during the war. It describes how the Marines battled a numerically superior foe and defended the high ground from barren outposts in the no-man's-land in front of the main lines. The account is based on original archival research, previously unpublished oral accounts, and the author's experiences serving in the 1st Marine Division's Reconnaissance Company and 1st Tank Battalion during the Korean War. This is a sequel to The Outpost War: US Marines in Korea, Vol.I: 1952.
