About the Author

Francis Boniface Mpundu graduated with an honours degree in forestry. He is highlytrained and experienced in planning and financial appraisal of investment projects, capital budgeting. He worked as forest officer, economics, in the Forest Department of the Government of the Republic of Zambia, from 1973 to 1975, where his most important forest project study report was Selection of Logging Equipment for Chati and Lamba Plantations. Its recommendation met with strong but unsuccessful opposition. He worked at the Development Bank of Zambia from 1975 to 1990 where his last position was agricultural projects manager. Even at the bank some of his project proposals met with strong but unsuccessful opposition. His objections to unnecessary employment of expatriates let to his being put on involuntary redundancy by the expatriate management when he workedas group project manager at Bonar Colwyn Ltd in Ndola, Zambia, from 1990 to 1993. He worked as agricultural development officer at Swarp Agricultural Development Company Ltd, also in Ndola, from 1995 to 1997.From 2003 to 2015, he intermittently worked as production operative in factories where he sometimes saw and openly objected to unacceptable factory floor goings-on even though he was not part of the management. He was born in the Copperbelt Province of Zambia but grew up in rural Northern Province. He is married with three children. He currently lives in the UK with his family.
