About the Author

Miralee Ferrell and her husband, Allen, live in a rural community in Washington State. She serves on staff at their local church as a licensed minister and is actively involved in ministry to women, as well as speaking to women's groups. This novel hit a little too close to home, the home of secret fears. The fear of getting so wrapped up in things that I lose sight of what is truly important. The fear that choices of boyfriends are not always wise. The fear that the job, the credit cards, the house, everything could go away and I'm left looking for a woman's shelter to take me in. This is what happens to Jeena in Miralee Ferrell's latest novel. A view into the world of what happens when everything is gone and one have to depend on the kindness of strangers for food and shelter. Even when the circumstances are not one's own fault, consequences can still happen. How does one cope and how can one rebuild? I recommend Finding Jeena: A Novel.

I just finished reading Finding Jeena by Miralee Ferrell, and what an emotionally and spiritually satisfying story it is. The heroine, Jeena, is as lovable as she is messed up, and you can't help but agonize over the monumentally bad choices that take her from riches to rags as she clings to what she believes is important in life. God takes her lower than she can possibly imagine before redeeming her in a powerful, dramatic way. The rich cast of secondary characters is intrinsic to Jeena's journey to redemption, and they're so well drawn in themselves that I hope Ms. Ferrell will give us a glimpse into some of their lives in further books. For me the takeaway value of Finding Jeena is the way it touched me on a personal level and changed the way I view the world.

I had the pleasure of, not long ago, reading and reviewing Miralee Ferrell's 5 star book, The Other Daughter, in which we got a glimpse of Susanne's friend, Jeena Gregory. Now, Jeena's back with her own story in Miralee's newest book, Finding Jeena. I'm so glad that I had the chance to review this book, as well. It's another wonderful story by a beautifully talented author. Miralee really drew me in from the first chapter. The longer the book went on the further in I was drawn. My heart really went out to Jeena in this story. Many, many times I found myself in Jeena. Things she said or things she did was like seeing myself from another's point of view. Wow. I can't begin to describe how that made me feel. It's truly a story that's filled with pain, finding yourself, amazing redemption and friendship. The characters Miralee created in this story really reflected out loving, heavenly Father and blended perfectly with Miralee's story line. It really stimulates your mind, gets you thinking and makes your faith stronger. In conclusion of my review, I suggest you read this beautiful, amazing-beyond-words, soul-gripping story. It is a 5 star book that will open your eyes, test your faith and leave you with an undescribable feeling in your heart.

I don't even know where to start with this book. I'm at a loss for words. Finding Jeena is an absolutely amazing story of grace, forgiveness, and redemption. I love stories about redemption, I always have, but Jeena's story is different. It is more real and much more profound that others I have read. It is amazing how quickly life can change and how little control we really have over our lives. Jeena had a lot to learn and God taught her what she needed to know in order to start over. There were some parts of this book when I felt tremendous compassion for Jeena and other times I was so frustrated by her I wanted to shake her. I think there is a little Jeena in all of us, which is why this book will have such a strong impact on anyone who reads it. I also loved the strong cast of supporting characters in this book. They all added unique insight into Jeena's life and her redemption. Now, I did find that this book wrapped up a bit too tidy, but that is the way God works, so I that did not affect my feelings about this absolutely amazing story. God is perfect and his timing is perfect and this book shows us that. This book made me examine my faith and my view of other people. I also saw some of my judgments of others in Jeena, so I learned a great deal about myself while reading this book. Overall, Finding Jeena is a fantastic book. Well, fantastic is not a big enough word for how I feel about this book. I loved every moment of it and I love the feeling it has left in my heart after finishing it.

I absolutely loved Miralee's debut novel The Other Daughter and was eager to read her next book. By the time Finding Jenna came out I had forgotten the part she had played in the first book. This story is a great stand alone book. If I had not read The Other Daughter it would not have spoiled the reading of Finding Jenna. Miralee has a cast of characters I came to care about and I would love to know what happens next.

"Finding Jeena" is a must read for every woman because it is helpful to see what we don't want to be like: bitter, self-centered, materialistic. It is easy as a human to have these negative characteristics and Finding Jeena portrays a hurting and lost soul and how she comes to healing in her life and finding Jesus. Whether you are a Christian or not, it is highly recommended to read this book for your soul to bask in love of God.

I liked this book because, to be honest, it was entirely different from what I had expected. Having read The Other Daughter, I assumed this story would follow up with Jeena and Suzanne's relationship, with Suzanne being the changing influence in Jeena's life. As it turned out, Suzanne plays a very minor part in this story. The story takes the reader on a journey with her character from the pinnacle of success to the valley of despair. The people who touch Jeena's life, from her sweet, loving grandmother to the innocent and accepting little girl, Kirsten, all help her down a path that leads to the ultimate goal of renewal and redemption. I found the plot to be well written and a reminder that we don't realize how fortunate we are until we lose the things we think are most important to us. The author conveys the message that once we are stripped of our material possessions, we discover it is relationship with family, friends, and most important, God, that truly defines who we are. Miralee Ferrell is an author who clearly proclaims the message of God's guidance and desire for redemption for all of His children. She reveals that message through stories that entertain and enlighten her readers.

This is the sequel to Miralee Ferrell's first novel, the widely acclaimed, The Other Daughter. Jeena Gregory was a character in that book, and deserved to have her own story told. Jeena had everything she could possibly hope for, and a new job that is the beginning of a promising career. But then Jeena overhears some talk between her boss and his secretary indicating illegal practices, and she questions the company's integrity. Soon Jeena finds herself without a job, broke, and homeless. Suddenly, she is confronted with her prejudices-and a God she had long forgotten. Miralee Ferrell's prose, in every one of her books, is fresh and snappy. Add to that the well-plotted story of this book, along with wonderfully developed characters you can't forget, and you have all the makings of a great novel! Without giving anything away, I have to say I especially liked the way Miralee mapped out Jeena's spiritual journey. She takes us down to the nitty-gritty; the meat of the situation. If you liked The Other Daughter, you will certainly like Finding Jeena. I highly recommend It!

Thank you to Bonnie at CFBA and Kregel Publications for my copy of this Christian fiction novel. First the good news: the plan of salvation is clearly written in this novel about a rich lady who loses everything--her family, friends, job, house, car, and even her cell phone. She even ends up in a shelter. The theme is one of forgiveness. However, I must confess that I did not like this book. I did not connect with Jeena, the main character, a bitter woman who is on the verge of alcoholism. The story line is predictable, and I found the writing to be choppy and filled with cliches. You may have a different opinion. Discussion question are included at the book's end.

I have read all four of Miralee Ferrel's Christian novels and have enjoyed them so much. Finding Jeena has been another of the "I can't put it down" readings. Finding Jeena is definitely a story that one can understand happening today with our economy as it is. In this story Jeena was quick to pass judgement on the women at a homeless shelter where she took some hand-me-downs to donate. She thought she had a job that would always be there, spending a lot of money for the nicer things of life. When Jeena's finances turn for the worse, she learns many lessons in a short time how one's life can change in an instant. Finding God again was her saving grace. Great reading and good book for any library.

Finding Jeena by Miralee Ferrell takes a minor character from the author's first novel, The Other Daughter, and gives her a story of her own. Jeena Gregory is finally getting it all together: handsome boyfriend, great job with amazing pay, new house, new clothes, new life. But first the boyfriend leaves, then she starts getting a weird feeling about her new boss, and before Jeena can catch her breath, it all falls apart. What is a woman to do when everything she loves is stripped away? Jeena was a singularly unlikeable character in The Other Daughter, but here the reader understands her anger and bitterness. An abusive father who used God as a weapon makes the church the last place Jeena wants to turn to for help. Ferrell creates sympathy for Jeena, even in the midst of her selfishness, not an easy task. The ending seemed a bit far-fetched; coming to Jesus doesn't usually clear up a person's problems so easily. Ultimately, it's a story of hope and finding faith in adversity, and Ferrell portrays that very well.

I just got done reading Finding Jeena by Miralee Ferrell, the spin off of The Other Daughter. I've read all four of Miralee's books and this one has made me think the most. How when we're quick to judge people from what we see on the surface without knowing the full story we can really hurt feelings and it's not fair to the person we judged. Miralee has really outdone herself! Can't wait to read her future books to come!!!
