This was my first book done in 1st POV for a romantic suspense. Once I got past my cringes with the language (warning if you don't like swearing then you won't like this book) I found a beautifully written story about a woman who had her legs knocked out from under her and found the strength to get back up and come back at life swinging. And that's how we meet Jordie, fists a swingin'. Enter Nathan, mysterious guy who knocks her flat again--but this time in a good way. H.J. Harley's debut novel is a fast read. Don't bother to read it until you've got enough time on your hands, because if you have to stop--like I did--you'll hate yourself. Slowly, but surely we learn who the real Nathan is, and what secrets Jordie is trying to overcome. And when the tables are turned on her, and the scare factor starts ratcheting up you don't want to stop. I suspected who was behind the terrorizing--loved that twist--but the final wrench H.J Harley puts at the end of the book will jerk your heart. I can honestly give this one the full 5 stars, for a new writer and author, this book deserves it.

I decided to purchase this book after reading so many positive reviews and to say I was let down is an understatement. Jordie is your typical independent NYC girl with a past. Her and her daughter have been happily going about their lives until Jordie meets and immediately falls in love with Nathan Harper. Nathan is, unbeknownst to Jordie, a famous actor. It takes all of about 2 days for Jordie to shed her independent spirit and completely latch on to Nathan and his lavish lifestyle. From there a series of predictable and completely unimaginative 'obstacles' pop up, threatening Jordie's newfound happiness. Aside from the unoriginal plot, the dialogue is absolutely atrocious. Jordie's interactions with Nathan and her best friend Rachel are unrealistic and cheesy. How do we know Rachel and Jordie are tough city girls? Well because they're 30 year olds who constantly call each other 'biotch' and end their sentences with 'hollerrr'. Yes, that's hollerrr with three Rs. Apparently one R just isn't enough. The storyline is choppy and frequently jumps from A to Z with no explanation. The buildup is nonexistent and the resolution is unrewarding to say the least. Bottom line? Do yourself a favor. Save $5 and buy another book. ANY other book.

I didn't like it, I LOVED it. My children had Lucky Charms for dinner last night and then again this morning because I was up all night. I had to finish Finding Jordie. I started this late afternoon yesterday after finishing another book because never did I imagine that a debut author's novel would keep me up all night. I'll never make that mistake again. Kept me guessing and guessing. Bouncing from character to character and falling in love with Nathan. Oh man, Nathan. Not to mention I need friends like Jordie and Rachel in my life. Bravo Ms. Harley, I can not wait for Finding Nathan.

I was just about burnt out on romance novels when Finding Jordie found its way to the top of my TBR (to be read) pile. At first the story kinda reminded me of the movie Coyote Ugly, but several pages in I realized that this was so much better.  I found my self being able to relate to the main character, Jordie, at several different moments throughout the story.  As a single mother raising a daughter, I am really reluctant about bringing men around my daughter for fear of the message that I may be sending to her. And like Jordie, my life tends to be pretty much dead in the romance department.  I thought it was funny how Jordie tried to hide her budding relationship with Nathan only to find out that her 9 year old daughter, Emma, already knew about it and was actually supportive of her mother's newfound love. I love the mother-daughter relationship between Emma and Jordie. Its is cute how Jordie is always worrying about Emma, but Emma seems to have everything under control.  At times, I had to remind myself that Emma was only 9 years old, as her ability to stay cool and calm in chaotic situations is like that of a teenager.    If you are tired of sappy, too good to be true romance novels, then I recommend Finding Jordie by HJ Harley. It is certainly much more than your average boy meets girl and they fall madly in love story. This book had me laughing, crying, and even screaming at the characters.  Great job, Mr Harley~~

Great book. Love the twist and turns of it. Couldn't put it down had to finish it.

I thoroughly enjoyed Finding Jordie. The heroine had this gritty, tough exterior hiding a tender vulnerability on the inside. Her life wasn't ideal, but it was hers. Devoted to her daughter, fiercely loyal to her friends, she'd learned how to pick herself up and brush herself off. Jordie endured and her heart was perfectly safe for years - until the right man came along. Nathan has his own trust issues and protective barricades, but those collapse when they meet and he feels genuine sparks for the first time. Their attraction is real, raw, and reassuring to them both. Too bad their whirlwind romance isn't all their own. They've got more eyes following them than they'd like -- and not all of them friendly. I loved how deftly Ms. Harley wove the threat into the story. It kept me reading, kept me guessing, all the way to the satisfying conclusion. *I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.

OMG –  I loved this book! Fast-paced, funny, sweet, full of tension, smart – did I mention I loved the heroine, Jordie? Sassy, smart, full of piss-n-vinegar and strong as the day is long. Makes me want to go to NYC for a girl’s night out with her and her BFF, Rachel - now that would be a fun night! Holler! And then there was Nathan – purely scrumptious! Ms. Harley has hit this one out of the ball park! I’m jealous of all those who are just about to pick it up and read it for the first time. Take yourself off to a quiet place, take some food (you won’t want to be disturbed by such mundane stuff once you’ve begun), and have fun! Bravo! Very well done! This reviewer received an ARC from the author in return for an honest review, which is given as a professional courtesy and without monetary compensation.

This was an amazing read. I laughed a lot and was sobbing at the end. The journey that H.J. takes you on is a bunch of twists and turns but in the end you feel the love that these two characters share. The mystery that is intertwined with the love story makes it so you don't want to put it down. This is a book is a keeper and I can't wait to see what H.J. has for us not

So good, it almost killed me. I was in love with this book from chapter one. Jordie is fun, tough, and sassy and I love her voice. She has an amazing friend in Rachel and they have an interesting relationship that involves a lot of good-natured swearing and name-calling. Emma, Jordie's daughter, is precocious and hilarious. Nathan...well, he is just dreamy. The love scenes fade to black but there is enough heat that you know how crazy they are about one another. They both have baggage, but work through it together. There were some heartfail moments, but I am happy to report that I survived. If you like romance, sassy heroines, swoon-worthy men, and a book that you can't stop reading, read this.

What a ride!!! Romance is not my typical genre, but his is more than that. The characters are so real you can almost touch them on the pages. The narration is told to the reader, Jordie is telling you her story, as if over coffee or, better yet, a drink at The Post! Conversations flow off the pages with such fluidity... I became involved with the entire cast, with the entire story, and Nathan... oh my!!! These two had more sex than gerbils under a full moon! Real, believable sex, the kind you have when you are just starting in a relationship and can't get your hands off each other... yeah, that good! H.J. Harley's 1st book is a definite show stopper!!! Holler!!!

I can't stand the author but I'll give the props when deserved. She nailed it with this one. My mom loved it too. She's a big reader and hard to please.

Zzzzzz I am not sure what expectations the people who favored this book have because I found it very boring and didn't finish. I dont let bad language effect me, but I found Jordie's to make her very trashy and have 0 class. She is a mom and dating a celebrity and every word out of her is ****, weak plot and weaker romance, save your money and choose another!

Truly horrible- bad writing, unlikable characters, and a tissue-thin plot. Don't waste your time or your money.

An Amazing Debut Suspense Romance by a debut author FINDING JORDIE is a wonderfully well-written story about a woman who finds love, when she least expects, in a man whom she has no idea who he truly is until she's totally unable to resist him. Nathan Harper is a good man who has feared letting anyone get too close because of trust issues, but opens himself up completely to Jordie and her daughter. He then finds himself in the unexpected role of lover, protector, friend, and father figure. The secondary characters are equally stars in this contemporary romance that features an adorably, intelligent and grown-up daughter named Emma, a quirky yet lovable best friend named Rachel, and a bodyguard named Frank that I just wanted to hug all the time for being so wonderful to Jordie and Emma. The characters are real. They act like normal people, they react like normal people, and they live normal lives even under unusual circumstances. Ms. Harley is a talented writer who has taken a first person work and made it work so well, you forget it's in first person. We quickly step into the character of Jordie and live in her skin as she falls in love, worries about her daughter, her friends, her bar - and Nathan. A mystery begins to unfold, putting everyone she loves in danger, and nearly costs her everything. I normally refer to the steaminess of a novel in minimal terms but I will tell you that if I had to give this story a rating, I'd say it was PG for sex, R for language, and R for violence but it all works so amazingly. I do wish that the ending had been a bit more expanded because, for me, it felt as if it had been either cut short or added on. All of that aside, FINDING JORDIE by H.J. Harley is an extraordinary romance well worth reading and I'm looking forward to more wonderful things to come from this debut author. I highly recommend FINDING JORDIE by H.J. Harley if you love a fast-paced, sweet and tender, emotional and endearing, passionate without blatant sex scenes, love story with a touch of tension, danger, angst, and some moments when you fear it's all coming apart for Jordie but that culminates in a sweet, loving happily-ever-after. ***eARC provided by author in exchange for an hones and unscripted review.

Definitely not your mother's romance novel.  Very impressive for a new author!

FINDING JORDIE starts off with a bang and never lets up. It’s so much more than just a romance. It’s gritty and real, romantic and suspenseful. Tough chick, bar-owner Jordie and her gal pal Rachel are an absolute blast (I would love to read a story about Rachel…hint, hint!). They’re outspoken, brash, and real with one another, just like best friends should be. While I’m not a huge fan of books with children, the relationship between Jordie and her smart, sassy daughter was so endearing and fun that I loved them together! Then enter mysterious and hot Nathan when Jordie least expects it. Jordie’s life suddenly heats up in more ways than one. While they both have baggage (who doesn’t) there’s instant chemistry and you feel every nuance of it. As heat ratchets up between them, the suspense kicks in as a stalker targets first Jordie, then Nathan and they never know what’s coming. The ending will leave you breathless. Ms. Harley has a fantastic voice and deftly spins a fun and romantic story with excellent characterization throughout. FINDING JORDIE is unexpectedly written in first person POV (which I LOVED) so you really get inside Jordie’s head. You’ll laugh, cry, and scream with Jordie until the last page. I can’t wait to read the sequel and see what’s up next for Jordie and Nathan. I highly recommend FINDING JORDIE.

While I was attending The Tennessee Valley Author Event , a very well known author pulled me aside.  She said, “There is a book I want you to read.  I want you to promise not to look at the cover.  Just read the book.  It’s very good.” How could I not read this book.  My curiosity was piqued. When I opened this book, I tried very hard not to look at the cover.  From the very first paragraph I was drawn into the book.  I could not put this book down.  This book has everything a reader looks for in a good book.  The story is fast paced, loaded with humor, full of red-hot chemistry and sexual tension, romantic, and hair raising suspense.  And as a bonus the author created delightful, quirky characters that wiggle their way into your heart the moment they are introduced. When I finished this book I was very satisfied with the time I had invested in it.  I was heading straight to Amazon to one click the second book in this series.  Finding Jordie did not end on a cliffhanger that forced me to buy the next book.  I just wanted more of these characters and more of their happily ever after story. Jordie Spagnato is a strong woman.  She is a business woman, tough bar owner, single mother, and widow.  She keeps her friends close to heart and loves fiercely.  She has learned to be tough when necessary, compassionate towards others, insightful to people’s needs, and gives her heart in full measures.  She doesn’t let the past drag her down.  She moves forward in life and makes the best of it.  When she meets Nathan Harper her world she created for herself is tilted on it’s axis.  Before she knows what has hit her, she is head over heels in love with the sexiest man she ever met.  When she finds out that man is the hottest Hollywood star, it doesn’t change her opinion of him. Nathan Harper is enthralled with Jordie Spagnato.  She looks at him as a man and not a superstar.  She treats him like she treats her friends and loved ones.  How could he not fall in love with her? Just as they are about to take the next step in their relationship a nasty stalker makes his presence known.  The danger is just beginning.  The suspense will escalate and keep you on the edge of your seat. This book had every element I look for in a book.  It is well written and fast paced.  H.J. Harley is a new author that is going to make her mark in the romance world. Read this book!

I loved the ending of this book, so sweet! And the author does a great job of handling suspense. I was really, really worried about her characters. She captured her bar-owner heroine’s independent, tough spirit well. I wonder what the follow up, FINDING NATHAN, is about?
