Living fully in the second half of life, Camilla, a psychologist, shouldn't really be alive. Is it her lifelong friendship with mutually mischievous Rosie, her undeniable romance with Javier, or her playful love for her great granddaughter, Chelsea, that keeps her from succumbing to cancer? At 55, she meets Javier, an amazing dancer, and convinces Rosie to join her in creating an elegant bed and breakfast with views of the mountains and roaring waters of Washington. When mortality beckons, Camilla seeks a dignified death that doesn't hurt those around her. In a dramatic turn of events, life surprises her, and at 94, she dances tenderly with Javier one more time.

A charming story filled with desire, romantic heart- break, rich friendship, and authentic people. You will see aging differently and know how achingly beautiful life really is, at any age.

Reviewed by Katelyn Hensel for Readers' Favorite In Finding My Way by Kathryn Foster Ph.D., we meet up with a spirited 94-year-old who has had quite an adventure. Camilla has had a good life. She tells us so on page one and then doesn't stop showing us why until the very last page. Despite a long battle with cancer, Camilla's life really opens up and solidifies during her last 40 or so years on earth. The plot meanders a bit (as I suppose, the mind of an elderly person is wont to do!) and occasionally I had to remind myself exactly where the book was heading and take a minute to gather together my thoughts from the wandering scenes. I felt that the author's depiction of old age (and indeed, an aging generation will surely relate!) was done carefully, creatively, and thoroughly. The time jumps were not my cup of tea, as I prefer linear stories. Still, I did appreciate getting to know not only Camilla, but her friend, Rosie and Javier. I really loved the cover and, although I know I shouldn't judge a book by it, I really liked how it reflected the text! As an added bonus, when reading the acknowledgements, I found that the cover was actually drawn by Kathryn Foster's daughter. It added a sentimental touch. Finding My Way is a tender-hearted book, full of gentle and nostalgic romance. It's a reflective piece regarding the precious qualities and moments in one's life and how age can change a relationship. I really appreciated the book for its tender moments, as well as bravery in dealing with sex and romance as one ages!
