Overview

Nothing could keep Christopher and Rebecca apart: not her abusive parents, or even the fiancé she brought home after running away to England. But when World War II finally strikes the island of Jersey, the Nazi invaders ship Rebecca to Europe as part of Hitler’s Final Solution against the Jewish population.

After Christopher and his family are deported back to their native Germany, he volunteers for the Nazi SS, desperate to save the woman he loves. He is posted to Auschwitz and finds himself put in control of the money stolen from the victims of the gas chambers. As Christopher searches for Rebecca, he struggles to not only maintain his cover, but also the grip on his soul. Managing the river of tainted money flowing through the horrific world of Auschwitz may give him unexpected opportunities. But will it give him the strength to accept a brave new fate that could change his life—and others’ lives—forever?

Finding Rebecca is a love story that takes place during WWII. Although Christopher was born in Berlin, he wanted nothing to do with the Nazis until, Rebecca, the love of his life, was taken from him. Christopher and Rebecca would have married if it had been allowed. It wasn’t. Rebecca was Jewish. When Rebecca was forced out of her home and sent to a work camp, Christopher became an SS officer. His one focus was to find and save Rebecca. The story is a beautifully written love story. But because it took place during the Holocaust, it’s raw and graphic at times. Although I’ve read several books about WWII, the atrocities that were carried out by the Nazis never cease to sadden, anger, and horrify me. Although this story is emotionally draining and painful to read, it’s a compelling and well-crafted historical fiction novel.

I received this e-book as a gift from Angelo Marcos. Thank you, Mr. Marcos, for sharing your work with me! This is an excellent collection of short stories. I was lucky enough to read them on a gloomy day with roiling black clouds and occasional flashes of lightning accompanied by rumbling thunder and was pleasantly scared silly. Thank you, Angelo Marcos, for sharing your great imagination with us. I would recommend this work to everyone.
