I've read the whole series and had to wait between each book but I love Henry, Alice and Jay they are great and their story is a mix of highs and lows like a .real relationship just between 3 people. I love them all so much I hope there are more books coming.

Where to start? Barber packs so much into this installment in the Neighborly Affection series that it’s hard to believe it all happened in one book. Impressively, it all flows from one scene to the next that I was swept along with the trio, without feeling overwhelmed by all that occurs or the pace at which it does. There is more than one series thread playing out in Finding Their Balance and yet it’s done in such a seamless way because the events play out over the course of Henry, Jay, and Alice’s life together. Because I loved it so much that I actually read it twice before writing my review, I will do my best to avoid spoiling the book for others as fans of the series should be able to enjoy discovering each of the surprises on their own. By the end of Finding Their Balance it becomes clear why the previous installment in the series, Becoming His Master, was a look back into how Jay and Henry’s relationship formed and why it occurred where it did in the series. In order to understand the significance of Calvin Gardner’s actions in Healing the Wounds and his obvious crusade to show that Henry’s style of dominance as less than, it was imperative that we understood what had befallen Jay and how far Henry’s training and care had gone in forming the happy puppy Alice has come to know and love. It also sets the stage for many of the events that take place in this installment as things finally come to a head where Cal is concerned. While it’s not a pretty sequence of events as Cal proves his unworthiness in calling himself a Master, Jay and Alice form bonds of friendship with other club submissives and both discover just how much they’ve grown under Henry’s dominance and one another’s love. As with the previous installments, the sex scenes are varied, loving, and steamy as heck as Jay and Alice continue to flourish under Henry’s guiding hand and explore new pairings and positions. Oh yes, Alice discovers the joys of one of my favorite-to-read couplings. Seeing Jay come into himself and face down his abuser was absolutely awe inspiring, not just because it happened but because it has been a continual process over most of the books and finally culminated in this installment. There was no quick stroke of the pen with which Barber “cured” him, but rather a process. In the same vein, we get to see Alice blossom in this installment. Not only does she come into her own dominance with Jay, but she also makes great strides in her submissiveness with Henry, particularly at the club. This is where the title comes into play as the trio has spent the past year together and finding their balance with one another. I was particularly relieved to see the inroads made between Alice and Emma and look forward to seeing how that relationship changes now that they’ve come to an understanding. And that’s the absolute best part of this book, arriving at the final page and knowing that there’s more to come. Barber’s Neighborly Affection series is one of my favorites and I look forward to reading the next installment in the series to find out where life takes the trio next. *ARC received from Kensington Books via NetGalley in return for an honest review* This story continues to build on the previous books. Alice, Henry, and Jay are still together, and better than ever. As the title suggests, they are finding their balance as a family. Although Henry is the Dom, and Alice and Jay are the submissives, Alice is more of a partner for Henry because thirty year old Jay is somewhat childlike (although very sweet and loveable!) Alice and Henry's relationship becomes even stronger and she is finally realizing how deep Henry's feelings for her are. In this book also, Jay finally faces down his abuser. It's impossible not to love these three characters and their story, thanks to the great writing of M.Q. Barber.

Finding Their Balance by M.Q. Barber is the fifth book Neighborly Affection series. Alice, Henry, and Jay are back for another installment. Alice and Jay are recovering from their incident with Cal at the club and are enjoying life with Henry. Alice is discovering new things with her “boys” every week and thoroughly enjoying them. Each one of the them is finding their spot in the relationship and how they all fit together. We get to see how things are progressing at the club where Henry has agreed to teach two different classes. Cal takes offense to it and creates a problem. Henry, Alice, Jay, Emma, and Will (looks like Santa Claus) are determined to take care of Cal once and for all. Jay will really need to step up to put Cal firmly in his past. Reading Finding Their Balance to see how life is progressing for Alice, Henry, and Jay. Finding Their Balance was definitely better than the fourth book in the series, but not as good as the first two books. It is an erotic novel (with masters, subs, whips, etc.), but we also get to explore the relationship between Alice, Henry, and Jay. See how they deal with their situation with family and friends. I was glad to see the Cal incident finally put to rest. It went on for way too long. I was also glad to see some growth in the characters (evolving and changing). I give Finding Their Balance 3.75 out of 5 stars. I received a complimentary copy of Finding Their Balance from NetGalley in exchange for an honest evaluation of the book.

If you love MMF books, this series is for you. But I recommend starting with the first. You can only appreciate this book more by reading from the beginning. This one is slower than the others, but I just love being in their world and don’t care. I would have also read this book quicker if I hadn't gotten sick and my Nook bombed out on me. It's like someone didn't want me to read it (and I wanted to read it soooooo bad!). I love Alice, Henry, and Jay so much. Their love seems so real.

Finding Their Balance,  M.Q. Barber Review from Jeannie Zelos book reviews Genre:   Romance, Erotica  I’ve adored this series from the start, thought I’d love this book, and was kind of puzzled, disappointed at it not working well for me. Its difficult to explain, but this time I felt it was very Club heavy, Henry’s words which I usually love seemed a bit ponderous, extraneous at times. Usually his voice makes me shiver almost, but this time, I just wanted to say “ c’mon, get to the point”. I can see where they’ve all grown so much, that they’re conquering fears both Alice and Jay have, and the balance they need is coming but...I just didn’t enjoy it. I guess what I’ve loved is the struggles, the way things have been misunderstood, the drama that caused, and the journey up to them all being together. I like the outside bits, the picnic, the cabin, the Tuesday lunches, the art exhibition from one of the early books, and I missed those touches here. Its very focussed on the Club, Emma and Cal and the problems they cause for the trio. Henry’s worked hard and they’ve done well, but I missed the problems and issues * shrug* maybe? I don’t know, can’t seem to put my finger on anything really, just that this book hadn’t the magic of the earlier ones for me. Still, I’m just one voice and I can see its perfect for others – that’s they way it is with reading, its very subjective and what works for one doesn’t for another. I’m glad I read this, but it won’t be a keeper and I think maybe its time for me and the trio to part ways. Stars: Three, one of those that’s good but not right for me.   ARC supplied by Netgalley and publishers for review purposes

Another fantastic book by M. Q. Barber. I don't think I'll ever get enough of Henry, Jay, and Alice. This book was really about growth. You know the characters, you love them, and now you can see them all grow and become more comfortable with themselves and their relationships. I really did not care for Emma, however, this book changed my mind. We get insight into why she does things the way she does and I'm so glad for that because she is important to both Henry and Jay. I absolutely LOVED Finding Their Balance. I definitely recommend not only this story but all of the neighborly affections series. I received this book through Netgalley for an honest review. I also bought this book. Spoiler alert... Jay stands up to Cal, Alice and Emma connect, and what Henry reveals....honestly I felt as stunned as Alice and had to reread multiple times. In the next book Ollie will visit and hopefully we'll see the trio interact with the men's family. I would love to see Jay stand up to Peggy and have her put in her place. I bet Henry's mom would love the three of them and having Alice there to calm Jay would allow them all to visit her.

M.Q. Barber has really outdone herself. She has done some absolutely superb work here. This unconventional love story touches your heart, tickles your funny bone, and revs your engine. Finding Their Balance observes our three lovers around the one year point in their relationship as they work to become a more seamlessly blended unit both from an outward and an inward point of view. Alice endeavors to accept her new role as part-time mistress to Jay, and Jay is doing his best to deal with the trauma of his past in order to help him to continue to find self respect and strength in his service... and Henry, well... Henry is Henry, ever the confident and sharing master who will stop at nothing to protect and encourage those that he loves. This threesome has obstacles to overcome, but they also have a love strong enough to see them through, if they trust in it. I loved every word of this book! The words were thoughtful and loving and hopeful and captivating and romantic and completely enthralling. I would highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a provocative and riveting read. * I was given an advanced copy of this book via NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.
