I bought several copies of this to send to the few relatives I know, thinking surely one of them would embark on this challenge. My father was adopted by his stepfather and we knew nothing. This book is so user friendly that even a relative in Oklahoma in her eighties obtained a copy and went on a search of her own nonstop since June. Everything you need to know about embarking on finding your roots is right here in this excellent book! I recommend it highly as a gift for that one ambitious relative who is eager to do the leg work on the Internet. Ms. Hendrickson wrote it in such a way as not to be intimidated by seaching on the Internet, which was a reluctance some of us had. A great reference book!
If you want to find ancestors using the Internet, this is THE book to buy. Using real-life research problems, the author showed how to use different search techniques to track down online clues to past generations. The technical information is written in an easy-to-follow style so anyone - if those people new to computers - can easily follow along with their own ancestor searches. I've read most Internet genealogy books and this one was by far the most comprehensive, detailed and HELPFUL!
