Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature
An otter is an intelligent animal that doesn't take life too seriously. Even though he has a terrific bite, he makes a good pet because he enjoys being around people. Many Christians take life too seriously and forget how to laugh and have fun. Throughout the sixty chapters, the reader is introduced to an animal, bird or fish that is part of God's creation. Each discussion includes information about the creature and ways that the creature is similar to humans, especially Christians. Each chapter concludes with a scripture verse, questions about the animal and an application such as "laughter can be a gift from God." This is a delightful book, very well written and thought out. This should be in every collection that focuses on Bible teaching, as well as personal libraries where the focus is on positive living. This is an excellent reference for children's sermons. 2001 (orig. 1979), Bethany Backyard, $12.99. Ages 6 to 12. Reviewer: Joyce Rice
