On March 24, 2014, David C. Crabtree slipped the warm embrace of his family to arrive at heaven’s door. He left a life’s work of effective pastoral ministry invested in four churches and countless lives. Bill Simbro, religion editor for the Des Moines Register, said of David, “He has the ruddy good looks of an actor, the voice of an orator, and he preaches with fire and brains.” His preaching brought notoriety, but his influence extended beyond the pulpit and to its greatest effect in the life of his son, David, who offers the reader this intimate glimpse of the life and love they shared.
David Crabtree has served as the lead pastor at Calvary Church, an Assemblies of God fellowship in Greensboro, North Carolina, since 1985. He is assisted in ministry by his wife Cheri, and an excellent staff. Pastor Crabtree keeps a busy speaking schedule at home and abroad. His writing has been featured in several Christian publications. His missionary involvement in church planting and pastoral training is extensive. He leads an annual bicycle endurance ride in Africa to fund missionary efforts in western Zambia. In addition to a B.A. from Central Bible College, David holds and Masters Degree in Ministerial Leadership from Southeastern University and is presently enrolled in pursuit of a Doctor of Ministry degree from Assemblies of God Theological Seminary. The Crabtree’s are proud parents of three daughters, two sons-on-law, and grandparents of twin grandsons, and two granddaughters.
