Melanie Shawn did not write a cliffhanger!!! She wrote a love story of two people who allowed others to come in between them because they were to young to know how deeply they loved. This story is detailed and is for mature adults because of the explicit sex. To be honest, I am not sure that the detailed sex scenes added much to the story. It felt like you were a peeping Tom and was too descriptive!!! I recommend this story.

There are no surprises here just an endearing story where you are cheering the charactors on from the beginning. If you're looking for an enjoyable way to spend some free time, I couldn't recommend any better book! Definitely worth it.

Returning to Hope Falls sort of feels like coming home, so many memories there with people you have grown to care about. And it was nice to run into couple characters from the original cast, I swear I had this smug smile on my face while reading about the book club 'I knew them way before...'. Hah. Eli Bishop and Mackenzie Sutton have that special bond of a teenage first love. But the love they experienced at the young age wasn't puppy love, it was one of those rare occasions where the young feelings take a deep root, where the intentions are sincere and the desire to build a future together is real. But life happens and they are torn apart without a word of explanation or a goodbye. Eli, the kind and considerate firefighter, who is always willing and able to extend a helping hand, who cares and take care of people around him, is genuinely a nice guy. He has that boy next door vibes, he adores his mom and has a great relationship with his parents. He would do anything to protect his family and is not afraid to stand up for bullies. His feelings for Mackenzie are bottomless, passionate, and true. He knows what he lost a long ago when he walked away from her and is now willing to do the hard things, to have the difficult conversations, to be vulnerable and open to get her back, if only she would give him a chance for that. Mackenzie Sutton had her heart broken by Eli when he walked away without a word of explanation. She has done her best to built her life, to fulfill her dreams and goals, yet the yearning for more, the longing for Eli, and missing what they had has always been at the back of her mind. Mackenzie knows her feelings for Eli will always be there and can be ignited to a blazing inferno by one touch. To enjoy the physical connection and flame between them is one thing, to be open and talk about the past, the hurt and pain Eli cost her and the reasons for it is too dangerous for her peace of mind. The dance between Eli and Mackenzie and their flaming feelings is a beautiful, emotional, and adorable thing to witness. The palpable heartache, the tangible passion, the earnest feelings, adoration, and admiration they have for each other string all the feels of the reader, causing smiles and sighs throughout the tale. Fire and Love is a charming tale of first love, the kind of love that last a lifetime and no distance or disruption can dim its force or its fierceness. It is a story about a delicate second chance with love, a delightful new chance with the alluring fire burning in Eli and Kenzie for each other. It is a wonderful, smoothly flowing romance story that hits all the feels as it unfolds. ~ Four Spoons with a teaspoon on the side

Fire and Love is another great story out of Hope Falls. It weaves many of your favorite characters into the current book. Without giving away the entire story line, Eli and Kenzie try to fight the attraction and don't communicate too well. Loved the story. I would have given it 5 stars, but it seems the book was a little short. I thought their story could have been longer.

I am a fan of this writing duo and of the Hope Falls series (huge fan of the crossroads series). What I enjoy about these books is that they are standalone, there is resolution, you don’t have to buy a second book, yet there is continuity from one story to the next so you get to see how some of your favorites are doing and the way they seamlessly introduce them in the current storyline is a lot of fun. (Cue the meeting in the coffee shop) This story is about Eli and Mackenzie, both residents, past and present, of Hope falls, who knew each other as young adults and for reasons beyond their control they had to separate. Their story is super sweet and nicely developed, I am not a fan of machinations outside forces (don’t want to go into too much detail and spoil it for others), it seems to contrived to me and I often think about communication!!!! Having said that I still enjoyed this installment, thought Eli and Kenzie were a great match, their shared past and great chemistry made this a lovely story.

Packing my bags for Hope Falls now! They had it all, then they had nothing....ten years later can they find their way back to each other and the perfection they had? Eli and Kenzie have both managed to find their way to their perfect jobs, but there is still a huge piece of their hearts missing, pieces that the other holds. Neither one have been able to move forward, both are still completely in love with each other but there is a LOT of heartbreak and pain to work through before they can even begin to forgive each other and then the final and biggest hurdle........can they forgive themselves? This book is overflowing with lust, steam and passion, another amazing addition to the fantastic Hope Falls collection.

Honest review for free ARC Eli Bishop and Makenzie Sutton have a history going back 2 decades. As teens they shared a forbidden love, but as usual, life got in the way. The two went their separate ways, both bearing deep scars and harboring their love. 20 years later, Eli, a Hope Falls firefighter, and Kenzie, a documentary maker cross paths again. Eli tries several times to explain to Kenzie why he disappeared the night before they were toelope, but Kenzie won’t give him the time of day. They both feel the heat of attraction, but Kenzie’s hurt runs too deeply. I enjoy the Hope Falls series. Eli seems like such an amazing man and Kenzie’s pain is palpable. These sister/writers do a wonderful job creating a story filled with passion and depth.

OH MY!! Words escape me in trying to describe how much I loved reading Fire and Love by the amazing duo Melanie Shawn, the thirteenth book in their Hope Fall series. This is a second chance story for Eli Bishop and Mackenzie Sutton who were best friends and neighbors since the age of ten. The commitment and love they made to each other after high school graduation were sidelined by the small mindedness of one individual but now there’s nothing to stop these two from burning up the sheets twelve years later when they have a chance to reconnect. Hopefully when Kenzie learns the truth of why Eli was a no show, she can believe in his honesty. Through their amazing and vivid writing Melanie Shawn did an outstanding job tackling this love at first sight story. I genuinely enjoyed reading Fire and Love and was pleased with the way Melanie Shawn found a way for Kenzie and Eli to find their way to a happy forever. Although this book is part of a series, it can also be read as a stand-alone. I highly recommend this book and am looking forward to reading the next story in the Hope Falls series. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

He was forced to walk away from the future they had promised each other, but he never stopped loving her. Now she's walking into his life again temporarily, and he's not sure how he's going to be able to stand to be in such close proximity of her again ... when she's not his anymore. Loved the trip back to Hope Falls! A solid reunited love story building from several characters we've met in previous books in the series. Firefighter Eli Bishop can't believe his luck. He started his life over in a town away from home, and now the past that he's never forgotten is showing up to dig up old memories and feelings again. What are the odds that Kenzie would show up in Hope Falls? Mackenzie Sutton became the documentary filmmaker that she always dreamed of being, but it's led her to confront a past that she wasn't ready to face. She never knew why Eli broke her heart all those years ago ... but being face to face with him again brings back that loving feeling!

"Fire and Love" is written by Melanie Shawn, and it is the 13th book in the Hope Falls series. It can be read as a stand-alone book. It features Eli Bishop and Mackenzie Sutton. This is a story about a second chance at love. When Eli and Mackenzie were younger, they had it planned. They were going to get married, but due to certain circumstances, it didn't happen. Eli joined the marines, and Mackenzie married someone else. But now, Mackenzie is back in Hope Falls to film a documentary. She's single now. What happens when they see each other after several years? They still have feelings for one another. It never died. There was one scene for me that stood out. It was when Eli found out Mackenzie was no longer married. Eli had to leave because of a fire emergency, but the favor he asked her made me swoon. Right then and there, you can tell Eli was going to fight for her. There are still some secrets from the past. What happens when the truth comes find out? Will Eli and Mackenzie get their happily ever after? "Fire and Love" was a quick read for me. It made me swoon and was a beautiful story! Wonderful job by the sister duo of Melanie and Shawna! Looking forward to the next book in this series!

Second chance romance at its finest! Melanie Shawn delivers another classic in their Hope Falls series, and Eli and Kenzie are fabulous! It took a while to find out what happened in the past, but I'm so glad they were able to work through to their HEA! I will never get enough of these great characters!

There are not words to express how much I loved this story. Eli and Kenzie have unbelievable chemistry together. This is the exact kind of chemistry that every woman dreams of. This story is will make you happy and sad. Why does a couple have to go through so much just to be together? Eli and Kenzie have a history. One that they wished didn’t still leave them hurting, broken and in love. They have been best friends, boyfriend and girlfriend, lovers and so much more to each other until the day is was all gone. Eli was supposed to meet Kenzie one day for their special day but he never showed up. He never even contacted her to let her know he wasn’t going to show. He was just gone. Even though Eli was the one that left he has regretted it every day since. Kenzie has always been his heart and soul and that will never change. Kenzie was left broken and hurt. She just has no idea why Eli would just leave her the way he did and on the day, that was supposed to mean everything to them. Years later she runs into him in Vegas but it was not a happy reunion. Now 6 months later she is back in their hometown working. Will secrets and explanations finally be revealed? Will these 2 finally have their future that they had always planned? Gotta read it to get your answers. Trust me you will not be disappointed.

Sweetly sexy, emotionally engaging and fun filled small town second chance romance and highly entertaining and relaxing quick visit to Hope Falls. Mackenzie Sutton an award winning filmmaker, sweet, sassy and back in her home town to film her latest project comes face to face with a past she thought she had been over. Eli Bishop is a hot, sexy hometown boy and firefighter with nothing to loose since he lost Mackenzie all those years ago. This is a short but awesome summer time relaxing in the backyard lounging in the sun with a cold drink reading.

A slow burn that will keep you hooked to the very last word! Mackenzie and Eli’s story is so heartwarming it will make you feel warm and fuzzy all over. I’m so happy that Melanie and Shawna are back in Hope Falls. This is such an amazing series and I love that we get to a small glimpse into how the characters from past books are doing! Eli is a standup guy who has always done the right thing his whole life even if it cost him the most precious thing he ever had. Mackenzie feels like she has life on lock, she has her dream job, a life in the big city, and a best friend she can always count on so returning to her home town should be no problem. Eli and Mackenzie heat up the page from the first time their eyes lock. I loved watching them rediscover the relationship that was taken away from them when they were younger. These two have to overcome a few hurdles to find their happy ending but when they do it’s so sweet you will be wishing there were more than a few pages left.

*I was given a copy in exchange for an honest review I have LOVED every Hope Falls book, and this one was no different. The characters are just always so great!! You instantly feel connected to both Eli and Kenzie right from the start and couldn't help but want the HEA for them. The writing kept you interested right from the beginning and it all flowed straight through to the end. This is a book you will not regret reading!! :)

We revisit Hope Falls to meet Eli and MacKenzie and their second chance. Things didn't work out for them when they were younger and they have both avoided each other ever since.. Neither of them have had a meaningful relationship and have thrown themselves into their work.. But now MacKenzie is back in Hope Falls and they can't avoid each other or their powerful feelings any longer... I love anything by Melanie and Shawna and this is no exception.

Loved, loved, loved this book!!! Kenzie tried to deny there was still a spark between her and Eli, but couldn't resist. I felt bad that they had been through such a tough past, and they both seemed to be fighting demons. Deanna had me cracking up throughout the story, and one of the fire calls may have given me a little anxiety. There was one certain character I would've loved to seen put in their place. Maybe disowned and outed. The perfect addition to the Hope Falls series, and one I would definitely recommend!!!

Melanie Shawn never fails me. NEVER FAILS ME! They always deliver a sexy, sweet, perfect story every single time. And every time we go back to Hope Falls it's like we never left. We get welcomed back into the town by it's people with their arms wide open! I love a great second chance romance and that's exactly what Eli and Mackenzie's story was. After a secret romance and a terrible reason to be torn apart, years separate them. And no matter how hard Mackenzie tried to move on....she never was able to forget the love of her life. Eli left because he had to. He had no other choice. There would never be another woman for him. And once he has her back in his life, he's never letting her go. This story is full of so much love, heart, sexiness, friendship, perfection, laugh out loud moments, swooning, and wonderfulness.....your heart will be near bursting! You want to read this immediately!!! Loved every second!!!

**Advanced copy provided by the author in exchange for an honest review** It's good to be back in Hope Falls! This is the thirteenth book in the Hope Falls series, but it can be read as a standalone and you would not feel lost at all. Eli Bishop and Mackenzie Sutton were next door neighbors as kids and shared a secret romance back during their teen years that they fully expected to end in marriage and spending the rest of their lives together. He had a dream of being a firefighter and she the dream of being a filmmaker, but little did they know that while their chosen professions might be what their futures held, their dream of being together might not be so easy. Many years later, Eli is living in Hope Falls working as a firefighter after finishing a stint in the Corps. While he still misses Mackenzie, and knows that she was "the one" for him, he has tried to move on with his life the best he can. Mackenzie is no more over Eli than he is over her, and when she returns to Hope Falls to film the documentary she is working on with fighter Gabe, who is just returning after beating cancer, she is stunned to learn that her former flame is back living in their hometown. The chemistry is still palpable between the former flames even as they both try to fight their attraction and the pain of their pasts. In the end, Eli and Mackenzie are given a second chance at romance, but will they be able to come clean with each other and deal with the hurt and secrets that have been keeping them apart for so many years? I love the writing of Melanie Shawn and how effortlessly these books always flow. The characters are always strong, the story line engaging and you always want to see how they get to their happily ever after! I loved this second chance story because things were not as they seemed when Eli made the choice to walk away from Kenzie. He would have done anything to stay, but in the end his choice all those years ago really showed the man he truly is. I'd highly recommend this book!

I have come to love the writings of these ladies. This one is another winner. The story centers around Eli Bishop and Mackenzie Sutton. These two were next door neighbors and friends as kids though from different sides of the tracks. Kenzie had a difficult childhood and Eli was always her rock. They are due to elope after their HS graduation, but Eli ended up disappearing. Both lost at love and were devastated. Fast forward 10 years, when they meet again. I’ll let others summarize the rest of the story. I will go tell you that it’s a story about second chances. These two were very much in love and somehow, have been unable to forget that love, even though it was a painful separation. Circumstances are to blame for Eli’s disappearance, but because he didn’t want to hurt Kenzie, he’s kept the reasons a secret. But true love and second chances do prevail. These two will have a bumpy road but in the end their HEA will be sweeter. A touching heartbreaking and heartwarming story with a well developed plot and complex characters. I was gifted this copy. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book. This story is the first set of 2017 stories set in Hope Falls and I am happy to say the magic is back. This story features Eli, a hot firefighter, he is the cousin to Deanna who ended up engaged to Lucky in last years books. Growing up Eli was in love with his neighbor Kenzie until he abandoned her. Deanna and Lucky ran into her in Vegas and since then Eli has been dreaming about her. In this story Deanna breaks it to him that Kenzie is about to come to Hope Falls to video their friend Gabe, who is making a comeback to MMA. Eli knows Kenzie is a documentary producer and also that she is married so its very torturous for him at first.

I loved Eli and Mackenzie's story. They were so believable and so truly loving. They had such character and so much heart, struggle and fun. I cannot wait for more.
