This is a story about a young man sailing on a boat from his home town in Tasmania, to try his luck at gold mining in the mountains of Omeo, Victoria, and his life in the town of Cassilis. The story goes back into the 1850s, to the people who were first settlers - hard work, hardship and sickness - a torturous way to make a living, especially with a dozen children or more to nurture. Nevertheless, there was always love and hope and much success. This story tells of adventure, shipwrecks, murder, childbirth and bushfire. We follow this young man to the very last day of his life. He knew that a man survives only through the seeds that you sow. I am surely one of them.
