In a battle of telekinetic powers, it takes more than well-developed psychic ability to prevail; it takes a burning passion to make things right. Leonard “Len” Wise, PhD, tall, attractive and twenty-nine is lost and aimless in a world he once shared with his deceased fiancée, Cathy. Her death, his telepathic abilities, a fused knee and stifling guilt are Len’s legacy from the car accident where he had been driving. Len has immersed himself in the study of parapsychology to master his strange abilities. He also spent years drowning himself in alcohol. Now, one year sober and one month after securing his PhD, Len has been asked to return to his alma mater to give a lecture. Attending the speech is Detective Bill McGee of the Mountainview police department. He wants Len to help investigate a case of spontaneous human combustion—or was it murder? This puts Len in search of a mysterious adversary who is endowed with the ability to manipulate fire. The pursuit of the arsonist/murderer becomes very personal when a woman Len is dating is killed and his best friend’s wife is kidnapped. Does Len possess the strength to stop the egomaniac who can create fire in the mind?

Mr. Lewis shows great talent in writing an adventure that is both fast paced and exciting!
Well-written, fast-paced, and not too gruesome. This is a story about a parapsychologist with certain telepathic abilities and well-defined ability to sense danger. He has come to a NJ town to visit a friend and his wife, and to deliver a lecture on parapsychology at the college where his friend is an associate dean. He is still grieving the death of his wife, which itself has elements of the paranormal connected to it. He soon finds himself assisting a local cop's investigation into arson. He discovers that telekinesis is involved - in other words, it is the work of a "fire starter". He has some trouble convincing the cop of this, but soon he's able to convince him and the case unfolds quickly. I recommend this book. It's not hokey, as so many "paranormal mysteries" tend to be, nor does it push any particular philosophy of life (thankfully!). I liked it so much that I bought the next book in the series,
