I have enjoyed every book in the series. The stories always have depth and sweet romance . It's super fun to hear about all the other characters that I have learned to love in this series.

Three and a half stars. Not my favourite Sarina Bowen novel. Skye Copeland is a TV weather presenter until an honest mistake puts her on forced holiday for two weeks. When her scatty step-sister claims she has a scoop and asks her to drive a rental car from New York to Vermont she reluctantly agrees to visit the small town she left 12 years ago. But when she arrives her step-sister gives her the slip and steals the rental car, saying she is mixed up with some dangerous men and Skye should talk to Benito Rossi. Benito is the man she left town to forget and now she's forced into close proximity. Then Benito lets slip that her sister might be involved in a group smuggling drugs that he is investigating and he seems to want to start up again exactly where they left off as if nothing has happened. Stepping back and looking at the reasons why I didn't enjoy this book as much as Sarina's other books, I have to say that I found Benito's attitude a bit odd. He hasn't seen or heard from Skye for 12 years and yet he is calling her "honey" right from the start. Also, we see more of Skye's POV so we feel as though Benito has behaved badly(view spoiler). It is only at the end that Benito turned it around for me. My favourite refrain, I liked it but I didn't love it.

I really enjoyed this book due to the sizzling chemistry of the characters and the suspense! I liked the characters and the whole storyline had me hooked! Skye hasn’t been back to Vermont in twelve years but since her half sister called wanting her to come for the weekend she had to go especially with 2 weeks unplanned holiday up her sleeve! Due to an unfortunate thing at work, which was rather funny! But how will Vermont and its people be after all these years? The last thing person she wants to see is the boy who stood her up at gradprom! And especially her step dad, hes a nasty piece of work! We learn some things about what happened years ago and you get the sense that she didn’t have a good upbringing.. Needless to say there are some unspoken words and feelings to be said but some truths come out in the end and I thought maybe theres hope for them! Is there a hea for Skye and Ben? Well read it for yourself, its an emotional story but also you come to learn who is really important in Skye’s life! This is definitely a story that will have your heart beating fast in more ways than one!t

Skye Copeland desperately needs her job but is currently on paid leave from her broadcasting job. Who knew you could get into trouble by drawing an erotic image on the traffic map? Returning to her home town chasing a story she plans to be in and out before anyone can find out. However her plan goes out the window when she comes across the man who broke her heart, Benito Rossi. The chemistry between them is just as intense as it was when they were young. Thanks to a misunderstanding Skye left Benito years ago, now they are together again, can they confront the past and in doing so, move forward together? There was drama, mystery and suspense which I thoroughly enjoyed. I love romantic suspense and Fireworks kept me invested from the start. I really liked Benito, he was so loyal and swoon worthy and I admired Skye and her determination to overcome a difficult childhood. There was humour and it was great to see some familiar faces. Fireworks is a story of hope, of believing in oneself and taking chances. A well written story that I recommend you one click, I don’t think you will be disappointed.

Oh Benito Fireworks puts Benito Rossi in the spotlight. Now a detective, Benito is righting the wrongs of his youth one criminal at a time. Growing up in a trailer park wasn't easy especially with such a large family but they have all matured into amazing people due to their mother's values and love. However, the events of his youth have left a permanent scar on Benito, and the biggest regret of all, losing his first love, Skye.  Skye moved into the trailer next to the Rossi's when she was 16, her mother having re-connected with one of her exes. Unfortunately, the ex in question is one heck of a scumbag, thriving off intimidation and fear. He terrorizes Skye verbally to the point she panics whenever he is near; her only solace an old swing in a clearing in the woods inhabited by the one and only Benito Rossi.  Both fall head over heels in their young hearts but their circumstances alongside the poisonous presence of Skye's stepfather create a situation where Skye flees to live with her aunt in NYC without a goodbye to Benito. A decade or more later and Skye has to return to the one place she despises in an effort to help her stepsister and while on a forced vacation from her job as an on-air journalist. Confronting the past on all levels, the flames burn even higher between Skye and Benito. Unfortunately, there are numerous obstacles to overcome before Skye and Benito can find their way to a happily ever after.  I loved the way in which Fireworks felt as if all roads had been leading to the path Benito and Skye were on. It certainly felt as if destiny had a hand in the way in which the events played out. Karma definitely took its time in working but when it did it was a wonder to behold

Such a beautiful heart warming story. This one is Skye & Benito's story. I enjoyed how the story flowed & that it gave me what I love in books which is a good dose of mystery to the characters presented. It had me guessing on what was going to happen between these two. This story gives you a good dose of love, family, heartache & a second chance romance that makes your little romance heart swoon with delight. Go grab this book in this amazing series.

Now, I must confess, I have not read the other five books in this series. It’s like my theme this year. Agree to read books that are part of a series. But getting the 6th book. And I’m one of those people who like to read in order. So I was a bit afraid, that I would be lost through the whole thing. But alas, my concerns were just overthinking which I do a lot. Benito and Skylar are two characters that can hold their own story. I wasn’t lost, yes I didn’t know the back stories to the other characters. But that was fine. Throughout the story you get flashbacks of the two characters, how they met when they were younger. What brought them together and the unspeakable things that happened. There is one evil in that little town of Vermont. I loved both of the characters, and I think that they were honest, exciting and totally just got each other. And as a reader, you felt that. Which I think is a crucial thing. I love the writing style of Bowen’s and the way that she connects you to these characters. The story was not boring at all. It had that feeling as if something major was going to happen, and it didn’t have the overdone angst that happens, sometimes. It was honestly, just seriously a fantastic story. I’m so glad that I agreed to read this book, even if it was out of order. Overall, Five Boundless Stars

I loved this book! This is the sixth book in the True North series but it could easily be read as a stand-alone. I haven't read all of the books in the series and have kind of jumped around a bit so I think that this is one of those series that is fine to jump in anywhere you want. Just know that once you do get started, you are probably going to want to read them all. Benito has played a role in some of the earlier books and I was really excited to read his story and ended up having a fantastic time with it. I have come to realize that I am a big fan of second chance romances. Benito and Skye definitely deserve their second chance and I was so happy to see them make it happen. I loved the fact that this book shows us what happened back when they were teenagers along with the present day. I think that the two timelines worked really well at telling the full story between this pair. Skye is forced to take some vacation time from her job with a new station in New York after drawing something that resembles a male appendage on the traffic map live on the air. Her stepsister talks her into coming to Vermont and before long she learns that things are a lot more complicated with her stepsister than she originally thought. Skye has to turn to the local detective, Benito, for help. I loved Benito and Skye together. They both still have intense feelings for each other that they have been trying to ignore for twelve years. Skye had a very difficult time at home as a teenager and Benito was always trying to protect her. Some of the events from Skye's past still haunt her and have a huge impact on her present-day life. These two had some things to work through but I loved seeing it happen. Benito was extremely patient and seemed to know just what to say at the most important times. There was a ton of chemistry between these two but it was also very obvious how much they both cared about each other. I would recommend this book to fans of contemporary romance. This was a romance filled with strong chemistry, intense emotions, a lot of heat, and even a few moments of humor. I can't wait to read more of this fantastic series very soon! I received a digital review copy of this book from the author/publicist.

4 stars — I enjoyed this one, as I enjoy all of Ms. Bowen’s works…but for some reason that I cannot define, I procrastinated a lot while reading this book. So I’m not sure if it was my mood, or if I just wasn’t as captured by Benito and Skylar’s story, you know? It’s so hard to tell. I think it’s a bit of both in the end. Characters are my bread and butter, and in the case of Skylar and Benito, I just didn’t fall in love with either of them. I fell in STRONG like, for sure, but not in love. All the elements were there for me to love both of them, but it just didn’t happen. Skylar was hella damaged from her past/childhood, and I felt for what she went through. The abuse from Gage was really insidious in all the little ways it dug in and stayed in her psyche. I thought that was explored really well, and I loved Benito’s description of the little sexual room in each person…what a great way to visualize it. Skylar was sweet, and a mix of sassy and meek that was intriguing. And can I just say that I LOVED that she was a tall girl? Represent! I also loved the way the story with her job/career worked out, even as at the beginning I wasn’t sure I would. But for some reason I had less patience with her romantic growth. I felt like while I got her trust issues, I was also mad at the two of them for not airing things out. I’m not a fan of miscommunication tropes, and this one spanned the entire book (though it remained in the background for most of it). I thought I would absolutely LOVE Benito from reading previous books in the series. And he was most certainly his own mix of intriguing characteristics — unbelievably sweet and considerate mixed with dirty talking. But I just…I liked him, but he didn’t make my book boyfriend list. And I honestly don’t know why. I think he just didn’t stand out for me. There were moments when I totally thought he was going to, because honestly some of the ways he treated Skylar were just STELLAR. He was perfect at watching her moods and not pressing her. He was a truly great guy in general (with the occasional misstep here and there). But again, the miscommunication happened on both sides. As for their romance, it was another area where I definitely enjoyed it, but just wasn’t blown away. I think I enjoyed the sweetness more than the steaminess with these two, which is not to say the steaminess wasn’t…well, steamy. I’m just so articulate today. I thought the sprinkles of the past were really well done, and it was an interesting decision to write from an almost omniscient 3rd person? I’m not good at figuring out all those different POVs. Anyways, it worked for me, it just took me a minute to adjust to it. While there were many heartbreaking moments, I think I loved these glimpses into the past, because it made me fall in love with Skylar and Benito together. Their present selves just needed a kick in the pants. I enjoyed the little bit of action/suspense side plot we got with Benito’s case, and how that tied in with Rayanne. Though I will admit that I almost wished there was more closure with Rayanne’s bit…maybe it’s been left open ended for a reason?? Things that make you go hmmmm…. So yeah. Ms. Bowen really can’t go wrong for me in this series…even presenting a miscommunication trope, which is low on my list, I still really enjoyed myself. And as always it was awesome to get glimpses of other True North characters, and even get some closure on a few little storylines (Zara

3.5 stars-- FIREWORKS is the sixth instalment in Sarina Bowen’s contemporary, adult TRUE NORTH romance series focusing on a tight knit group of family and friends in Colebury, Vermont. This is twenty-eight year old, broadcast journalist Skye Copeland, and thirty-year old, detective Benito Rossi’s story line. FIREWORKS can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous instalments is revealed where necessary. Told from dual first person perspectives (Benito and Skye), as well as third person memories from the past, FIREWORKS follows the rekindling relationship between former high school friends- twenty-eight year old, broadcast journalist Skye Copeland, and thirty-year old, detective Benito Rossi. Twelve years earlier Skye Copeland’s life had spiralled out of control when her mother moved our heroine back to Colebury, Vermont, and into a trailer park where her life was a menagerie of unwanted sexual threats. Meeting her neighbour Benito Rossi allowed Skye the protection she needed from her mother’s abusive ex (Jimmy Gage), a man determined to destroy what wasn’t his to touch. Fast forward to present day wherein Skye has been forced into a leave of absence from her New York broadcasting job, a leave precipitated by the drawing of a p*nis on the local traffic map; and the emergency call from her step-sister Rayanne stating there was something important she needed to tell. Enter Benito Rossi, the young man who destroyed our heroine’s heart, and one of the reason’s Skye has never returned to Colebury, Vermont. What ensues is the rekindling romance and relationship between Skye and Benito, and the potential fall-out as Skye’s return to Colebury coincides with a police investigation into a local drug dealer whose customers are dropping like dying flies. Benito Rossi destroyed Skye’s heart the day he didn’t show up for prom. Humiliated beyond words, our heroine packed up and headed to Aunt Jenny’s in an effort to forget about the boy she once loved. Twelve years would pass before Skye returned to the town that devastated her life, a town where her past is about to come full circle. Benito Rossi never stopped loving the girl that got away. With no explanation or forwarding address Skye disappeared from Benito’s life, a disappearance Benito would mourn until Skye’s return. The relationship between Benito and Skye is one of second chances; a rekindling romance between two people who fell in love but never acted upon their attraction or want. Benito refused to take advantage of the pain and humiliation of a sixteen year old girl, while Skye secretly hoped that her feelings were not a one-sided affair. The $ex scenes are intimate and intense, without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text. FIREWORKS is a story of family and friendship; betrayal and heart break; secrets and lies. The premise is interesting; the romance is passionate; the characters are energetic. I had a couple of issues including why Benito never searched for the woman with whom he fell in love, and his ability to defend and deflect his last relationship; and Skye’s naivete as it pertained to Rayanne’s lies.

Sarina Bowen has a gift which is writing about people... She can create characters that are so human, so relatable, even if they live in the snow of Vermont and get into a lot of trouble. Skye is a wonderful character, she has face it all and has bounced back each time. Benito has suffered his share of sorrows but his love for Skye is undeniable even if it has passed 12 years and so much pain for both of them. I understood his sister Zara and what she has done to them, even though it is tough to accept and forgive. I think that is why Sarina Bowen is such a wonderful author she does not fear writing a character for who he/she is. We make mistakes, we are humans after all. Skye and Benito's love story is a wonderful second chance and it is so worth reading it.
