Excerpt from First Book of Natural History
Mr. A. Ackerman - Dear Sir: - I have perused, with some care, the manuscript of your "First Book of Natural History." I am much pleased with the general plan and with the manner in which the details are carried out. Should the work be published, (which I hope will be the case,) I do not doubt that it will be the means of awakening an interest among the pupils of our schools in this most useful, but too much neglected branch of study.
Dear Sir: - I take pleasure in stating, that I have been favorably impressed by the specimen of your MS. copy of the "First Book of Natural History," submitted to my inspection. The matter appears to be well digested, the arrangement is judicious, the style is neat and clear, and the plan is one which is adapted to be very useful.
