Overview

The First Collier (Guardians of Ga'Hoole Series #9) by Kathryn Lasky

An ancient malevolence that will threaten the very existence of the great tree has been loosed from the past. With his dying breath, Ezylryb tells Soren and Coryn to read the legends of Ga'Hoole hidden in his private library. There, they find a world of treachery and magic in which a young king and queen struggle to keep peace while Grank, their most loyal friend and supporter, studies embers and flames in a distant land. Then a desperate plea comes from the king, and Grank rushes to the aid of his noble friends.

A great series of stories with interesting characters and unique story line. The chapters are short and hold your attention. The " Guardian " books are hard to put down.

This book is told from Grank's perspective on how things came to pass in Ga'Hoole. It is very well written, very entertaining, and the end leaves you hanging so you can't wait for the next book.I'm a 38 year old dad and I love fantasy books as well as other styles. This book,in my opinion,is a quick entertaining ride!

It is sad that Ezylryb dies, but, he gives Coryn and The Band a mission to read the special legends in the secret place in his hollow. When they finish reading, Coryn realizes something horrible about his mom.

Once again Kathryn Lasky has amazed me. Being a fan of the series I was eager to read this book. This is by far the best book in the series as it fills in lots of the gaps and has a great story line. A recommended book for all ages.

I loved this book probalbly because i loved the series before it. It has so much to do with my favorite books (The Hatchling and the Outcast) that we know MUCH more of the legends mentioned in mainly those two books of the series.
