This is one of the best ways we know how to introduce a child to numerals, and strengthens their counting abilities as well. Have the child count the objects in each group by pointing to each with their finger, left to right, top row to bottom, then help them to write the number correctly in the tracing figure or blank box. Counting objects are intentionally arranged into rows of five. This little detail will help the student recognize groups of five for faster counting later.
