Throughout their father’s twenty-two month campaign for president, Malia and Sasha Obama begged their parents for a dog. Finally, when their father became the 44th president of the United States, he rewarded their patience and good behavior in his victory speech: “Malia and Sasha will get their new puppy.” Would the girls choose a Foxhound like President George Washington’s? Or a chocolate Labrador Retriever like the Clintons’? Maybe a shelter dog? Finally, on February 25, 2009, they decided to look for a Portuguese Water Dog to move into the White House. Art rendered in watercolor, gouache, and pencil.

This a cute book about President Obama's two young daughters and badly they want a puppy. They go through many things that only children their age do not have to go through, such as standing in front of thousands of people, having body guards at all times and always having set an example for others. They were rewarded a dog once President Obama won the presidential election and they all are currently in the white house to this day. This story could show that even celebrity children have to behave and also that they are so much alike, in that ,most chldren love and want pets.
Balanced and fair reporting on the important subject of Obama's pro-pooch policy in the White House. (With lovely illustrations to boot.)
