Five dollars to mail a letter seems like a lot of money to shy farm girl Lily McMillian. And when she's hired in the spring of 1860 by Old Man Lynch as a cook for his stagecoach and Pony Express station, she finds out why it's so expensive.

Dropped into a whirlwind of rowdy men and boys, fast horses, and frightening conflict, she inherits more than a busy kitchen and a pile of dirty laundry. She gains an unlikely band of brothers, a motley collection of rounders, miscreants, and troublemakers, all of whom are in sore need of someone to keep them in line.

By: Regina Shelley Published By: Five Dollar Mail Age Recommended: Adult Reviewed By: Arlena Dean Rating: 5 Review: "The Five Dollar Mail" by Regina Shelley was a enjoyable western, historical, and romantic read. This author did a wonderful job with this novel bringing out that time in history when the 'Pony Express' was very important in the mail delivery. The characters were all well developed, so real and well portrayed only helping to give the reader a well written novel. Now, there will be a lots happening in this read so you will have to keep up. The writing will go back and forth quite a bit which can be somewhat confusing however, it still is a interesting read that will keep your attention. Be ready for a "whirlwind of rowdy men and boys, fast horses, and frightening conflict." It will definitely have you wanting the next novel by this author.
