I fell in love with this book the moment I saw it.  What a delightful, creative and brilliant idea.  They say a picture is worth a thousand words and this certainly holds true for this book because it is a wordless wonder.  It is the perfect snuggle-up book for a bedtime treat.   The fact that the reader can create his own dialogue, use his imagination and discuss the happenings in the pictures is the best scenario possible don't you agree?   The contrast between light and dark and the unique detail of each picture is sure to captivate readers both young and old.  Of course this book has to be accompanied by a flashlight!  Why you could even use that flashlight as the reading lamp as you cuddle together under the covers to unwrap this great book in the dark.  Oh, and please, leave the flashlight on the nightstand just in case your little one needs a nightlight in the future to guide his path, or just to explore his surroundings and dispell a bump in the night. What a perfect gift to give... a combo of both book and illumination ... a  celebration, that banishes fear and allows the discovery of an awesome world at large .  I highly, highly recommend this book to add to your "keep forever" collection.

I love when a wordless picture book is done really well! The illustrations in this book have such a story to tell! It is cool how Ms. Boyd draws the night scenes with very little color (just a splash here and there) – except where the flashlight beams. What will the MC see? Another cool thing is that you don’t know if the MC is a boy or girl. When I read the book, I was thinking the MC is a boy, but other reviewers think the MC is a girl. You can look through the book several times and keep picking out little details and see all that the MC is missing in his little flashlight beam! There are little cut outs on the pages that ties the pages into each other. flashlight2 The story has some humor too. At one point the woodland creatures get a hold of the flashlight and they get a turn. Soon the MCs woodland buddies get him tucked back into bed. This is a very cool book. :) *NOTE* I got a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review
