Flashy Fiction Volume 1 & 2 by Jen Wylie and Sean Hayden my review

Flashy Fiction and other tales is a collection of wonderful and unique stories individually written by Jen Wylie and Sean Hayden. Both volume 1 & 2 have been put together for easier consumption.
The Review:
Volume 1 of this book is a mixture of stories. While Volume 2 have similarities. Both Jen and Sean wrote individual stories about a bear, but through their wonderful creativity the two unique stories are completely different.
These stories are short, fun and unique and will keep you reading until you’ve finished the book. But do be warned some of the stories are creepy, others are sad while yet others are funny. You will be guaranteed to feel one emotion or another at the direction of the tale you’re reading and the creative genius of the author who wrote it.

I loved that this book was filled with short stories from gory to creepy to mythical. Zombie, haunted pumpkins, unicorn, voices in your head and so much more. I loved that the stories from Sean came from ideas on twitter and facebook. His writing was new to me and truly entertaining. Jen is an awesome author who I have read her other books and she did not disappoint with her stories being powerful and almost poetic at times.
Even if you only have a few minutes you can read one of these stories. The authors alternate each story. I also love that after each story the author explained their inspiration about writing it.
If you want to discover two great authors with different writing styles but bring together a great short story book then pick this up. But I will warn you, you might not want to read some of them before you go to bed.

I had the opportunity to snag a free copy in exchange for a review and I took it, mostly because my experience with flash fiction is spotty. Then, I realized why I have spotty experience with the genre - I'm not a fan. I feel a lack of character and plot development. The personal bias makes this book difficult to review.
This book-bundle is flash fiction and, true to my usual form, I found myself thinking that these stories read as rough draft-outlines waiting to be developed into stories. That being said, there's some interesting twists to old ideas here. The authors are creative but I found myself wishing that most of the stories had more flesh to them. Look forward to reading longer works by both authors.

An anthology of the strange, bizarre, and just plain weird.
With 15 short stories, there’s bound to be something you enjoy. I love the idea of flash fiction, gives an insight into how twisted the author is with where the stories go. I enjoyed all the stories to some degree (my sense of humour is quite twisted itself) but the ones that stand out at were “Zombies at the Meat Market” and “Forgettable the Beginning”, but I’m also intrigued by the Echo concept in “Echoes of Darkness”. All were well written, made me laugh, think twice and were thoroughly enjoyable ~ definitely worth reading.
