Flavia and her offbeat friends as they find wonder in the world around them. This beautifully illustrated children's storybook traces the escapades of quirky Flavia and her friends. Each of the children has his or her own unique characteristics: Flavia spends every night in the family mini-van since she can only sleep soundly on four wheels; her brother Victor gets hives unless he is wearing striped clothing; her friend Julie's head has become heavy from memorizing the names of flowers; and her neighbor Lucas walks around town on his hands every day. Nevertheless, the children have become so accustomed to their routines that they are beginning to tire of them.
When Flavia encounters a talking bird who squawks, "This is boring," everything starts to change. Flavia and her friends team up to help the bored bird, and in the process, they find the ability to appreciate doing new things. Even though they discover that the blackbird was merely repeating something he had heard a bored person say, the experience allows them to celebrate new experiences in their lives.
Flavia's marvelous flights of fancy and her appreciation for the originality of everyone she encounters makes her world a fascinating place. Children will enjoy the brightly colored, fantastical illustrations and delight in discovering new details on every page.
