Richard Laymon must have gotten the idea of this book from watching Invasion of the Body Snatcher. I LOVE richard laymon books, but this one did nothing for me. It was actually hard for me to get through and I don't typically say that about his writing. Anyway, if you enjoy the author pick up his other works because those are fantastic!

Richard Laymon delivers another no holds bar bloody romp through the horror genre. If you've ever read Laymon then you know you're in for a wild ride and this entry is no exception. As always, he gives you a taste on the back cover as far as plot goes but from there it's anyone's guess where the story will end up. An original twist/story about homicidal parasite making its way through a college town. Story flowed nicely and was broke up with different character narratives that overlap and slowly come together at the end. Characters were slightly generic (cop, college kids) but different enough that you can connect and be interested in their fates. As always, the sex/gore factors are at the extreme but enhance the overall feel of the book. Not for everyone but good to see extremes every now and again which Laymon definitely delivers. Description/details are there in force when needed to spice things up. Overall; pretty much what you'd expect from Laymon novel (solid story, graphic violence and fluid story telling). Not his best in my opinion but still a strong entry. If you're a fan then you've probably already picked this one up but if not then highly recommend checking out Laymon and his impressive list of top notch horror.

If you read Laymon's books then this is right up your alley. Just like all the rest this is full of gore and yuck! Something enters people and lives on their spine. It needs a host, it makes you want to eat other people. It's sick and you want to keep reading. You meet numerous people in this book that in the end are all connected to each other, like most horror novels there will be some show down in the end. Who or what will win?
