Overview

Fleurish by Ilona

Garden photographer Ilona brings a fresh, artful approach to capturing flowers on film with an up-close perspective that transforms even the most common blooms into stunning beauties. Vibrant photographs show off 150 different flowers, organized to reveal the complete circle of nature's palette — white to pink to red to orange to yellow — all the way around to deeply vivid hues of blue. An appendix with thumbnail images offers horticultural notes for gardeners.

The cover of the book and the photos within are very nice. I believe the most alluring part of the book is the writing. There are quotes from well known people in history discussing the SEDUCTIVENESS of flowers. The writing is captivating. Reading a page or two is similar to being alone in a beautiful garden or simply gazing upon fresh flowers at the local news stand or grocery store. ENJOY! The author and photographer have done great jobs. Both are women I believe.

I bought this book on a whim because I liked the photo on the cover. I am a gardner and I picked it up as a gift for another gardening friend. She loved it, and as we looked through the pages, I found I also enjoyed the portraits of some of my favorite friends....flowers. The photos are well labeled, colored sorted and have a sensual feel, in the style of Georgia O'Keefe. The pictures invite you to veiw blossoms in a very intimate way. I ended up buying myself the book and another one for my mother (also a gardner!) for Mother's Day. Whether you're a gardener, a photographer, or artist, I'd recommend this book as a way to expand your view of what you see from afar most of the time.
