Floret Flower Farm, Cut Flower Garden - a stunningly beautiful example of a "How-to" book. Part flower recipe, part feast for the eyes with photos from Michèle M. Waite, this book could just as easily be kept in the garden shed as it could on the coffee table. In reading the book, I never felt like Erin was speaking over my head, and actually ended the book feeling hopeful about succeeding in growing new varieties. Smartly laid out by season, each includes the flowers blooming at that time, how to grow, Erin's favorite varieties and very helpful tips on extending their vase life. The most helpful part of the book for me is how Erin demystifies tasks like pinching (which, how and when) and dividing tubers. No matter how many times I've been told where to cut a tuber, it never became clear to me until someone pointing to the spot to cut. A photo of Erin actually pointing to the spot is included in the Spring chapter!! Two thumbs up for the salt-of-the-earth attitude and gentle encouragement this book provides.
