Flowers In The Blood by Gay Courter

Bestselling author Gay Courter outdoes herself with this exotic, richly textured epic novel about a Jewish family in Victorian India. Colorful and compelling, it brings to life a world never before portrayed as it tells the dramatic and stormy tale of Dinah Sassoon's quest for love and justice.

The story is long but absorbing..It takes you on a fantastic journey through the lives of the JEWS of Calcuta India. I could smell the land, feel the moist damp air and hear the elephants as the heroine goes on an elephant hunt.It addresses the opium trade which at one time was legal and smoked by many..It made me realize that yes drugs and addiction have been around for a very long time fortunes have been made on it and many have seen their demise from it.. A well done book.
