Follow the Leader

More than anything, Korn are about sound. They write songs, but those wind up not being nearly as memorable as their lurching metallic hip-hop grind. They have yet to exhaust that sound, and that's why their third album, Follow the Leader, is an effective follow-up to their first two alt-metal landmarks. Not that it offers anything new -- it's the same sound, offered in a more focused forum than Life Is Peachy, but not sounding as fresh as Korn. In fact, it begins to wear a little thin toward the end of the album, but guitarists Head Welch and Munky Shaffer find enough tonal variations over the course of the album to keep it interesting, and vocalist Jonathan Davis nearly matches them with his cavalcade of voices. If the songs themselves don't leave much of an impression, it's because they're not supposed to -- they're simply vehicles for the metallic grind, which provides all the visceral rush any Korn fan needs.

this was the first koRn album i bought, and i still think its the best. the sound they've made on here is really cool and i don't think that any other band even comes close to them. my favorite tracks are "freak on a leash", "come on!", "pretty", and "justin". koRn will forever be my favorite band.

Korn shakes things up on this album, blowing me right out of my chair! You have to listen to believe! J.D. screams and wails about all of the things us teens get upset about. You know, being a freak on a leash and being brutally molested by our fathers. He really gets to the heart of the issue. Give this CD a spin!

This is one of the sweetest KoRn albums yet, the 3 best songs would go- 1. Got the Life 2. Freak On a Leash 3. It's On Also ''All in the Family'' is sweet w/ Fred Durst of Limp Bizkit. Ice Cube appears and so does Tre from the Pharmacyde, and the coolest colab. would have to be w/ Cheech Marin from Cheech & Chong. Korn put in the Instrumentals, and Cheech added the (hilarious) vocals. The song's called Earache My Eye...Buy this, its worth it!

There are a couple of good tracks: 'Got the Life', 'Freak on a Leash', 'All in the Family' and 'Reclaim My Place' but the ones are too much filled with rap. Korn still has good anger but they try too hard. The songs are too complicated.
