Overview

Follows and Likes... Do they equal self-worth? Do the more I have somehow make me more successful? These are important questions for teens and young adults that tend to be consumed by social media. If you often get caught up in the "feed," then this is the book for you! As a teen or young adult, what is your definition of success? What does it look like? Do you think there is a correlation between social media and your self-worth? In today's world, the true meaning of success has been defined to youth by society as having fame, fortune or being millionaires, creating a stigma that our self worth is merely based on external factors and appearances. We concern ourselves with what other people think about us, and we judge ourselves because we are comparing who we are to other people; never being content with what we have and always wanting to be like, look like or have what someone else has. It is difficult to tell what is real and what isn't, what is true and what is a lie. This book is meant to help teens and young adults understand what true success is and help you make the right choices for YOU, not based on what your parents want, what society tells you, what you see on social media or what your peers are doing. At the end of each chapter, there is a real-life success story of someone amazing who has proven that it doesn't matter who you are or where you come from, you CAN accomplish anything you set your mind to.

About the Author

Kristi Maggio, founder of Maggio Multicultural Academy and Maggio Multicultural Foundation, has been an educator for over 20 years. She has witnessed multiple inequities and difficulties students have had due to a system that does not work for any child that fits “outside the box,” and she has made it her mission to take action and do something about it.
In 2013 she moved to the Dominican Republic thinking she would just perfect her Spanish for a year and then return to the US to work in underserved areas, however, things changed when she moved, and she saw an opportunity to help many children. After 3 years of building her reputation, she founded her own bilingual school in 2016, Maggio Multicultural Academy. It was the product of many hours of hard work, determination, dedication, and… many people telling her that she was crazy! As a result of her relentless effort, the school had incredible success.
Kristi’s efforts to make her vision a reality are never ending. She began a nonprofit, the Maggio Multicultural Foundation, which provides educational resources and mentoring programs to teens and young adults.
Kristi has been published in the compilation books, "The Best Advice For Speakers" and "The Best Advice For Coaches." She was also the editor and project manager for the digital magazine Entrepreneur Success.
She began a talk show on Punta Cana Hits Radio called "What's Up Punta Cana!" and she now has a podcast that focuses on success stories called, "The Secret To Success... Isn't So Secret!"
It is Kristi's mission to provide equal and inclusive opportunities of education and employment around the world using sustainable technology, and it is her vision to impact the lives of 1 billion students in the next 10 years through a virtual accredited educational institution and the help of strategic global partnerships.
In writing this book, Kristi wanted to make sure that all youth realize that no matter who they are or where they come from, they too can create the life of their dreams!
