Melanie & Damien have been best friends since forever. They still have one another's backs, even in their adult lives with careers. Melanie is thinking it is time for a change... Damien has so much going on. It would really help to have Melanie support him, but she sees errors in his plans. Melanie is honest and tells him what he could do to fix it, but why would he take the easy way? Melanie & Damien belong together and it shows right from the beginning. I was rooting for them out the gate, since they seem so in sync with one another. Damien just needed a little push. I found this story fun and hard to put down. ***This ARC copy was given by Netgalley and its publishers, in exchange for an honest review.
As a fan of sports romance, I was excited to read something different than what I have currently have had the pleasure to read. Fool for You was a good, solid book with characters who are easily relatable and likeable. Rina Gray has done a good job in creating a storyline that is different from other books in the sports romance genre and has casted some great characters. I love the childhood friendship romances, which is where Rina was going with in the storyline. Melanie Foster has secretly been in love with her best friend for years, however, when he drops the bomb that he is going to get married to his girlfriend, Melanie has to convince him and fast that she is the women for him. In operation, I’m Gonna Make You Love Me, you will definitely be laughing out loud and some Oh No She Didn’t!. Overall, this is a pretty good read, especially if you are looking for something light and fun. As most contemporary romances, you will get some good drama but are treated with some laughs as well. I would most definitely recommend Fool For You and ensuring that you add it to your To-Be-Read Shelf.
To read a positive story about an African- American hero and heroine was a wonderful change from all the negativity put out into the world on a regular basis. Damien and Mel want to make a difference in a not always kind world. Mix in a little romance and you've got a winner in my eyes. There were a few stalls along the way but overall, Ms. Gray created something energetic, relatable and entertaining. That's something to be proud of.
