A good Fern Michaels.....fast read and great story.....couldn't put it down. Almost didn't buy because of a spoiler review...please stop with the long book reports and telling the ending....glad I still purchased.

Fern Michaels' characters in this poignant story made me look back on the war in Vietnam and its' effect on our country and the people involved in that horrific war. Not only did the veterans who fought in the Vietnam war get enough credit, but the doctors and nurses were overlooked also. That in itself still leaves a bad taste for many people in my estimate. This story tells of friendships made, loves lost and the casualties of so many. The main characters, Mac Carlin, a West Point graduate, and Casey Adams, a nurse, come from different areas of the world, and of different backgrounds; they meet in San Francisco because of a snafu in Mac's military orders as he's headed off to Vietnam. They find themselves attracted to each other, but don't get the chance at the time to see where the attraction will lead. The story has many twists and turns; I couldn't put it down. I thought there would be some sort of a happy ending for these two, but it was as if they weren't meant for each other. Get your tissues ready for this one.

This story about Casey and Mac is non-stop reading. Mac's discovery of background was heartbreaking, from mansion on hill to groundkeepers cottage and his awesome housekeeper. Something new in each chapter. Defintely a 'fog' catcher. I laughed and cried alot. Micheals really makes you feel all the emotions of her characters.

I loved the historical references to Vietnam in this strong story. Of all the many Fern Michaels novels I have read, this is by far the most haunting. Definitely a worthwhile read if you remember the 60's or early 70's!

Days later and my chest still hurts when I think of this book. It takes an amazing author to grab me to the point that I really FEEL the characters. Her talent is good, almost too good as my heart is broken over the events revealed. Last chapter definitely required a tissue. One of my favorite authors and I love her work BUT I'm kinda wishing that I didn't read this one :-(

This book started out slowly, but soon became very significant to the Vietnam War era age group! It tells a great story of relationships during that War and the consequences of it. Very readable and thought-provoking!
